And once we agree on that, can we also agree that anyone past, present, and future who claims to be speaking for god is full of sh-t?

I agree. If God is real and omnipotent, God should not need to be interpreted, but instead be readily apparent. And you shouldn't need to have faith in God's existence, it should obvious and verifiable.

Who says He isn't capable of doing that? He can if He so chooses. For reasons that are His alone, He is what He is, and He does what He does.

God wants us to actively seek Him. It shows that we are serious about it, and that we believe that He is worth the effort.

We don't all agree on question one, so you get a reprieve of sorts on question 2, which is equally ignorant and lame.

Many people past, present, and likely future, have been/will be tapped by God as someone worthy of speaking for Him. It's not that He couldn't do it Himself. He deliberately chooses to work with and through mankind.

If Albert Einstein were to come back to life and speak to you about the affect of relativity on astrophysics, chances are that most people would be lost in the first three words. God's knowledge goes beyond what we can even imagine. Besides, every time God spoke directly to a man in the Bible, the man fell down as if dead. Is that what you are looking for?

God has his own way of handling things and not for the will or profit of man. If you have faith enough to believe that he can or will speak to you, then ask and believe and wait and not doubt and God will. When you hear someone call your name and see nothing visible to this effect, Just say speak Lord and God may or may not. Then you will know that it indeed was God cause Satan will not call you by your name. Read your bible. Stop judging and pray.

Actually an Omnipotent God has no need to speak. Mind speaks disguised as God and then interprets what it has said. BE STILL and KNOW I AM GOD! God's language is Silence.

God only speaks to those whose hearts and ears are open to hear Him. That is what Christ was saying when he repeated several times; "He that has ears, let him hear."

If there is a communication gap it isn't on God's side. Your question is the question of the spiritually illiterate. God is ready to speak to you personally when you are ready to humble yourself in His presence and admit that you have lived in sin against Him and wish to repent - not before. Coming to know God must be done His way - he doesn't bow to mere mortals.

Your language clearly shows who your master is.

"Can we all agree that an omnipotent god should be able to speak to us without the aid of an interpreter?"

Why would he want to?

i actually agree that we dont need interpreters to communicate with god. the reason that we have interpreters though(priests rabbi's etc) is the fact that sometimes, people DONT know the right way to communicate with god. Example is he does things that he believes is right BUT is actually contradictory to God's teachings. This is where the interpreters kick in. XD

If God did speak directly to us, you'd be begging God, please speak to Moses and let Moses speak to us.

God in all His power must be a fearful sight. Or at least the thundering, lightning and brightness scared the Israelites too much to want to hear directly from God.
