Where does your cat sleep at night? Is he confined to one space or allowed to roam? If he's confined, that might be the reason - try letting him roam. My cat was allowed to roam the first night we got her, but she meowed at us for two nights straight. The third night, we locked her in the bedroom with us (with the litter, food, and water.) It was extra work, but I think it made her feel more secure to be where we were sleeping and in a smaller space. After a week or so, we'd bring her into the bedroom to start out the night (after having moved the litter box and food to their normal places - the bathroom and the kitchen, respectively) and left the door open - she was fine, since she'd gotten more used to the apartment. Different cats adjust in different ways. Good luck.

A cat will cry, growl and meow at night because they miss their mom. This will stop when you have had the kitten for about 1 full month.

If the vet says they're healthy, you just need to start putting them in the litter box before you go to bed, then get up once or twice in the night to do the same. In no time at all, they will get the message. Also, because as one answerer stated, they do develop habits based on smell, you need to totally eliminate any traces of pee or litter box odor from your room. If they don't get the message right away (they usually do - cats are very smart!), then bar them from your bedroom for at least two weeks. By then, they should be so used to going to the litter box at night that you'll have no more problems.

my cat is 10 months old and still growls...although she is more like WATCH KITTY...whenever the mailman come to the door she hops on the couch...looks out the window and groooowlllls....."stay away from my home." at least I know when the mail is here. I think your kitty is doing something different....I am sure it will stop soon...she is just young

She is probably just missing her mum or siblings but she/ he will be fine in time. Also it could just be that she / he wants some attention. Cats do like to be active at night and if they have no one to play with they get noisy for attention. Either way they should get used it things soon

I have 4 kitties.None of them ever complained when sleeping time cause they are together and they have no fear. When a kitten is alone i think they are scared...Perhaps the only way to make him stop is to get a playmate!Otherwise you got to wait and give him time....

Poor kitty..missin her family. Why don't you try to hold him close to you when you go to bed.. put him close to your chest and let him fall asleep there... He probably wants some tenderness. The sound of your heart beat and the warmth will probably make him happier.

Every pet adjusts to its new home in its own way. Give it a week to settle in.
