He did preach forgiveness, but he said it like this: "Forgive others and God will forgive you." It's from the Sermon on the Mount."

It sounds very simple and straightforward to me... it simply means we have to change our ways. That whole sermon is about how WE have to change. Nothing about how we don't have to change, and Jesus will take on the punishment for us. Jesus didn't preach that kind of Law.

The Law Jesus taught is God will treat us as we treat others, and if we don't fogive, God will not forgive us. So why do Christians get upset when I simply remind them of what Jesus actually taught?

In most cases my source is http://gospelenigma.com Can't say I agree with everything in the book, but in general, it simply turns the attention from what Paul preached to what Jesus preached. One man even said "Heresy, Heresy!"

So what is it about the things that Jesus taught that gets Christians so upset?

The thing that I am seeing alot here in this area with all of the questions that are being asked is "why do Christians do..." All people that claim Christianity are not Christians....they are "SELF proclaimed". Just because someone says they are a Christian does not mean they are. I can say I am a famous movie star all day long but that does not make me one. The bible says "A tree is known by it's fruit" meaning that people are known by their deeds...whether they are Christians or not. If you see someone that is not living by the word of God and is blatantly in constant sin THAT IS NOT A CHRISTIAN. I am not saying that Christians, like everyone else don't make mistakes but they should not be living a constant sinful, immoral life. So if you see someone that does not want to live by the teachings of Jesus...they are not a Christian.

This is a very interesting question to see how Christians and non-Christians will respond. I believe that it doesn't matter if you are a Christian or not when answering this question because the answer is the same for either...Flesh. The flesh fights against the spirit so anyone including Christians will not want to forgive if they are wanting to maintain their position, It comes down to pride of self, of needing to be validated. However the command (so to speak) is directed at Christians because we have been given the freedom to live apart from our flesh. Non believers cannot do this because all they know is their flesh, they don't understand the things of the Spirit. Furthermore, the reason it can upset some Christians is because we forget that when we accepted Christ we choose to say "I don't have the right", the right to maintain unrighteous anger, unforgiveness, and such.

Because the jezus myth was created by people for people, and they don't like it when you remove their comfort zone.
If you had been told that it didn't matter what you did as long as you said the right thing, and then someone said you actually ARE responsible for yourself, wouldn't it threaten you?

Xtianity was created to appeal to the basest element of society; the uneducated ,the peasants. It was instituted into earlier societies as a control mechanism. As has been noted many times on this board, it also appeals greatly to criminals. ("Prison salvation")
This is because it's tenets target the most infantile of responses- Think of a child who throws a tantrum, then says "I'm sorry, I love you mommy." Xtianity has removed the responsibility for the tantrum from the child, and focused on the "I love you mommy".

The child, after getting away with throwing tantrums for so long, does not now want to hear "I love you isn't good enough- change your behavior."

The Holy Apostle Paul did not preach anything what can contradict to the teaching of Jesus. Among Christians there are those who have some delusions that can not make them to fall away from God. There are some things that indeed can cause them not to be accepted by God. For example it is, what you've said about unforgiveness and hatred towards brothers or sisters. Who don't want to accept brothers or sisters can not be accepted by God.

... except hatred of women. It was The Pauline Conspiracy that banned women from holding positions of power in the RCC. Read your NT carefully, and you will see that women did hold positions of power before Paul stuck his beak in and kidnapped the 'Christian Sect'.

Jesus was a Rabbi who was trying to make changes within his own faith. I honestly think he'd be horrified at what has been said & done in his name.

I have no doubt that the more Fundementalist Xians would happily tie anyone saying this to a stake.

I find it so funny that Christians don't even know what this question is. It's like their wool has grown so thick they can't see beyond it!

Look Christians, forgive those who don't follow what you follow and YOUR life will be spared.

So stop taking it upon yourself to spare these others.

Dang, is that simplified enough yet?

The True Founder of Christianity
Did Jesus or his Apostles follow a religion called Christianity? Who were the first 'Christians' ? Who founded Christianity and do the teachings of Christianity conform to the teachings of Jesus?

The teachings of Paul, the true founder of Christianity, cannot be found anywhere in the teachings of Jesus or in those of prophets before him.

The teaching of Jesus upset christians because it dismantle their spirit of godhood to a man and a prophet of God. And he teaches "The Lord our God, the Lord is ONE" instead of Trinity.
