The question you ask requires, by definition, a Creator. It is only of an intelligence that you can ask such a "why" question. It is impossible to imagine asking a "why" question of the mindless process of evolution.
“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell (20th century philosopher, mathematician and Nobel Laureate)
If we reject God, all of our so called "purposes" that we invent are nothing more than self delusion. Instead of purpose, we invent ways to feel good about ourselves so we can make it through life.
But if we accept that our Creator may exist, then that changes everything. God must have put our great need for purpose into our human nature to point us to seek Him. So our purpose becomes to seek our Creator.

World is an illusion. At that level there is no purpose. In illusion whether light is of yellow colour or blue, it does not matter, as it is none of these.
At another level "to experience self is the purpose", which could clear the illusion.
At another level It may be "working for others"
At another level it may be "working for fulfilling ur own desires"
We r born to achieve that purpose at that level to rise higher.

Nirvana Moksha Salvation Escape
Why?
This world is a jail and we are all serving death sentence.
The devil is the jailer.
In the world there is suffering....
disease
old age
Death
Can there be a state of being in which there is...
No disease
No old age
No death
Yes and that is in nirvana achieved by removal
of desire of all worldly pleasures/attachment.
Anything that is born will die.
Reincarnation is a play of devil.
After death the devil creates another body as a trap.
We are trapped beings in the cycle of rebirths.
And the cycle is powered by
our own desires to enjoy in this world
and that leads to the cause of being body bound.
The devil binds us and puts us in the web of
nervous system based body to seek pleasures
to gratify our various organs.
The way out is to leave the desire and understand the play
of mind--emotions--sensations--nervousSystem --body.

People have different purposes in life. Some people are put here to help others as in Mother Theresa. Others are here to teach...I guess which is still a form of helping I guess. The bible tells us that God created all things for His pleasure so that includes humans. It says that "all things were made by Him and for Him. I think of it as an honor to say that it was pleasing for God to have created me.

desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Each person's purpose will be different. It will reveal itself to you and you will know your reason for being. Some go through life and never realize theirs. You have to open up and look for it and accept it.
I just found mine out after almost 50 years - to take in and (finish raising) a 14 yo girl who was a truant, suicidal runaway and whose parents are both incarcerated.
My husband was murdered 15 years ago and we didn't have kids. I thought my life was over for 15 years! Then along came Bree!(her name is Brianna)
BTW, had her since June and she's doing fantastic! I am set to finalize adoption of her in January! I love her to death!

life is a blessing. even experiencing bad times is better than not existing at all, i think. i believe God put us here for freedom of choice to follow him. i'm still searching for the correct religious path to follow, and serve God.
