is it compulsory not to write 's if the noun ends by s or it is possible?

sorry I meant "may I say "Jesus's gospel" or should I say "Jesus' gospel" (without S) or are the same correct?

I wrote jesus and gospel but it was just an example, just to put a singular name ending by S with a genitive case, and ask about which was the correct way to write it.
I prefer the longer form (= charles's tie) but I knew that both forms were correct (=charles' tie)
but I needed a confirmation from mother tongue people

the gospel of Jesus is better because it describes the Good News (definition of gospel) about Jesus.

Practically, both forms are O.K.
"However, technically--in cases in which the word ends with an s--if we’re talking about the car that belongs to Mr. Jones or your boss, is it Mr. Jones’s car or Mr. Jones’ car? Worse, is it your boss’ car or your boss’s car? Despite what you might want to believe, it’s Mr. Jones’s car and your boss’s car. One owner, so it gets “’s.” The house lived in by the Jones family, however, is the Joneses' house. Since it's a plural and has a plural ending that ends with an s, it takes an apostrophe on the end. This prevents you from having to say something as painful as "The Joneses's house."

Look at your question again, they are identical.
Jesus' gospel is correct...the gospel of Jesus.

They are the same and you can even say "Gospels of Jesus".

as with Charles's book or Charles' book
But make sure its not Charle's book because that is wrong

Both are acceptable.
In theory the spelling should reflect the pronunciation.
