dweebken has a point. Catholicism is in a large sense new. The church of the middle ages has evolved. The same can be said for most mainstream Christianity. Practically all of the difficulties and complaints that I see in R&S refer to errors and misunderstandings that have been corrected.
People who don't look at the Catholic church because of things like the Inquisition are being about as flip as the girl who once told me she wouldn't date me because I had evolved from an ape. (There was some other context around that comment, however.)

What is considered a new religion? A religion that has existed for centuries but has only emerged due to the increase of followers? A religion that your own religion never thought or acknowledged its existence? Hmmm...I guess it depends on who you ask

Traditional religions are history and there will be no new ones. The Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Islam, and Judaism) emerged to fill the intellectual and emotional fears of illiterate Semitic goat herders who lived thousands of years ago. We know a lot more about the natural processes that control the physical universe and imaginary super-beings are no longer relevant or needed.

How are you defining "best"? Is it one that allows you to behave as you like, with no bad consequences? The only "good" religion would be one that requires you to be kind, generous, faithful, loving, bearing no grudges, thinking of other people's interests rather than your own ... and so on. So why look for a new one when we have Christ's teachings to follow?

I'm going to have to go with either Pastafarianism or the Followers of the Invisible Pink Unicorn. Either way both are good choices.
