I'm an atheist too. But, I'm undecided on this topic when I think of it from a Christian's perspective.
Do we let people die only to find a cure for them a few years later? If God has a plan for everyone and then goes through the business of ensoulment, which apparently happens at conception, why are there so many natural miscarriages? Did God mean for them to die in the womb?

The ability to heal is, I truly believe, a God given gift.
When it is time to die no one is going to change that, but God gives us the abililty to heal one another and reduce suffering.
We would not have the ability to heal without God's graces.
Jesus healed people and gave his disciples ability to do the same, that is a very clear example for us to follow.
To refuse medical help on religious grounds is to refuse help that is a God given gift.
Others see it differently but that is my belief.

No. God is not in the business of death. He created humans perfect, never ageing never dying. He even sent his son down to obliterate death, so now we are only sleeping in God's eyes awaiting resurrection. Death is a result of sin promoted by God's rival, Satan.

Disagree. Unless the patient wishes to forgo resuscitation, we should modern medicine to keep that person alive and help them recover if possible.

I see no evidence for a god intervening in our lives anyway.

It's like anything else. God gives us the mind, capability and ability. What we do with it is up to us. I think its wrong to help someone die (murder or suicide) and it's wrong to let someone die also.

Can you be more explicit? Are you talking about medications that enhance people's lives, thereby making them live longer, or do you mean Euthanasia?
