Well I am a Fundraising Specialist with Home and Garden Party. I am an Independent Designer. I find the organizations/individuals that need funds raised and present them with our fund raisers. I make 1-3 dollars per item that is sold. While the group/individual makes 3-5 dollars per item. I am not salaried I work on commission.

You won't get rich raising money for other people, but you should be able to live well enough, particularly as you gain experience and decide on a specialization, as development professionals often choose to specialise in specific fields, like grant proposal writing, major, individual, or corporate gifts, planned giving, or event planning. Of course, if you have strong feelings about the cause you are supporting, that is an additional benefit to know that you are helping support them in their goals.
However, according to salary.com, searching under general "fundraising' shows the following::
Fundraising coordinator (New York, NY)
Coordinates fundraising strategies and is responsible for most aspects of fundraising programs...
start at $38,712 , average at about $46,711 and top out at $84,503
Fundraising manager (New York, ,NY)
Develops fundraising strategies and oversees all aspects of fundraising programs. Creates fundraising goals...
starts at $63,908 averages around $74,644 and tops out at $114,255
You can research more job titles and your specific zip code at the site, but this should give you an general idea.
