Many self proclaimed "satanists" I've talked to know nothing about satanism. They come from religious backgrounds and speak about how much they hate God, but they proclaim to worship a little guy with horns that lives in a Looney-Tunes esq. hell.

The main reason they give for hating God is because some christians push their beliefs on people(which can be applied to any religion, but for some reason christianity is targeted). To me, it isn't God that does that, it's a sanction his followers. So why don't they say "I'm anti-christian or I'm anti-religion?"

Apparently the "satanists" you've talked to aren't real Satanists. I guess there are the pretend-satanists (guy with horns), the true Satanists (an atheistic religion), and people who are simply anti-Christian.

I took a religious studies class in school, and of all of our guest speakers, the Satanists were the most logical, reasonable, and, in my opinion, wisest of all.

I'm sure that is part of where christianity gets it's ideas on what satanism is. I have, in my lifetime, heard many "testimonies" from people who profess to have been satanists saved from their evil ways by jesus, going on about how they sacrificed animals etc etc...
I've never heard anything so ridiculous in all my life, I wish people would actually do a little research on the realities of this sort of thing (not difficult these days what with the internet at your fingertips).

The Christian version of Satanism predates your version by hundreds of years. Your Satanism is bad for society, bad for progression and science, and bad for you.
Believing that you should try to fulfill your every desire as it arises in a sort of hedonistic frenzy demeans society, promotes barbarism, and if accepted en mass would lead to Anarchy and moral erosion. Christianity probably isn't much better, but yours isn't a religion--it's a philosophy, and a bad one.
