They bribe doctors with Olive Garden, smoothies, sporting tickets and golf to prescribe their drugs to as many people as they can! This is crazy, everyone is on antidepressants and cholesterol drugs now! When will this madness stop?

As long as people are looking for a quick fix to feel better, someone will be around with a temporary solution. I see no ethical difference between a drug company pushing Ritalin unnecessarily and a street dealer selling methadone or crack.

Dr's are not dumb. And drug people don't give the fringe stuff like they did before. Dr's (most) try to give the best med they can for the problem and that the patient can afford. I have work in Dr's offices. Even though they just came back from a lunch paid for by a certain drug company, does not mean they will give that medication more. If they give the Dr lots of samples of an expensive med the Dr may give out more samples but they have to consider if the patient can afford it after they use up the samples. The madness is that we are unfit, over eat, don't exercise, are spoiled to having instant entertainment and to much free time. In the old days when we work the fields, a lot of this stuff was never even thought of because we didn't have time to. People need to stop searching for the quick fix and go for a Walk and eat a low fat low cholesterol diet

The madness will stop when the law finaly sets some rules about the highest prices of meds and advising patients of alternatives. The doctors don't always tell you of alternatives and sometimes I feel a doctor will exagerate the need for some meds prescribed. Sometimes doing research before filling the script will help too. I feel that some of the side effects are worse than the actual problem in the first place.

I think the over-medication is a way of life in our society. I work at a school and so many kids come through zoned out. Most of them are hyper, cause they are kids- very few of them actually need their medication.

I think drug companies will stop the over-medication push on doctors, when legislation changes to limit the amount of "cush" drug companies can give doctors. I think this will push for drug companies to show results, data results, of the benefits of their drugs.

Additionally, I think it is a culture thing- most of us want the medications at this point. Especially with all the drug companies advertisements on TV.

Drug companies make drugs to make money from the drugs. If they cure or help an illness so much the better.

It will only stop when people lower their cholesterol and find a cure for depression!

If there's a cure for your illness, should you not take it? Would you like to return to the good old days when surgery was done by barbers?
