Winchester Brand Centierfire Rifle Ammo
22-250 Remington-4,150 fps maximum (40 grain Supreme Ballistic Silvertip)
.220 Swift-4050 fps maximum (40 grain Supreme Ballistic Silvertip)
.223 WSSM-3850 fps maximum (55 grain Supreme Ballistic Silvertip and Super-X Pointed Soft Point)
.223 Remington-3,700 fps Maximum (40 grain Supreme Ballistic Silvertip)
.222 Remington-3370 fps Maximum (40 Grain Supreme Ballistic Silvertip)
.22 Hornet-3050 fps Maximum (34 grain Supreme Jacketed Hollow Point)

Side note: I prefer the .22 centerfire family of calibers because of their little or no recoil, and their speed and accuracy make them almost as devastating as bigger calibers on varmints and soda cans.

Of the SAAMI-recognized cartridges, 22 Swift is still fastest after all these years. That's why it's nearly dead. While there's been a fad of late for one-upsmanship in larger calibers, people who shoot 22 centerfires have known for decades that faster isn't always better, especially after you've burnt out a barrel or two. 22-250 seems to be most popular in terms of speed that doesn't go too far to an extreme, at least according to popularity of sales.

Although this is likely to start a dispute, I would say that in FACTORY LOADED ammunition the 220 Swift. Introduced 60 years ago, still unbeaten in velocity terms with a 40g bullet at 4250 FPS.
This can be beaten by other calibres with handloaded ammo.
Experiments during WW2 with 50 cal necked down beat this figure by a large margin.
With ammo at these velocities, high rates of barrel wear are normal, probably the reason that the Swift is not as popular as it could be, although modern barrel materials have increased barrel life considerably.

The 22-250 is one of the fastest, but the .222 and .220 swift and others like that get up there too. I cant hardly believe that a .223 shoots the fastest. If you load your own, you can make thm as fast as you want. I load my .243 at around 3700-3800.

Which centerfire .22 is the fastest?

.22 Hornet: 2800 fps
.222 Remington: 3200 fps
.223 (45 grain bullet): 3500 fps
.22-250: 3600 fps
.220 Swift: 3800 fps
.223 WSSM (55 grain bullet): 3850 fps

AND it looks like the winner is... The .223 WSSM

Best.
