I was wondering if coyotes are generally safe to eat from diseases. I know people normally don't eat them but if I'm going to be taking care of the ones on my property I thought I might try one. Has anybody actually tried it and not liked it? Or is it just getting over the "wild dog" part?

LOL Its just like getting over the whole dog thing. Like most predatory animals that eat meat and carrion they have a rather pungent taste.

One of my pals shot one while we were having a bbq at his place. I told him, hey if you killed it you must eat it. And we did.

I wouldn't do it. Although my old pappy would tell tales of old cowboys having to eat coyote when on the trail and no other game was available. He said they cooked it real good to kill everything before eating it. He never said he had eaten it but said he knew of those who had and they were not harmed by it.

I've eaten ALOT of wild game. Coyote isn't one of 'em and I hope I don't get hungry enough that I need to. As far as safe to eat........ Cook it very well as they are certain to be a host to parasites and disease.

Dog gets eaten alot in asia. Why not?

I would barbq in a sweet peppery sauce to lessen the "oooey" factor.
