I have a lot of ambition and passion to be the best that I can be. My dream is to become a Police Officer, yet I also have a talent for academics and medicine. I will be 21 years old before too long and would like to know what others think. I was born and raised around Police and have what seems to be an innate ability to be a police officer. My immediate goal is to become a Paramedic. I love the medical aspect of being a Paramedic. Medical and Legal investigations intrigue and motivate me to solve the problem. Is the medical journey satisfying enough for me to take that route? My biggest worry about that route is time. Time for family, friends, and love. Or must you revoke all that time until the end?

Since you are inclined to both police and medical work, why not be both. Take up police work first and then on to medical school to become a forensic or pathologist expert.

As for time, you can do time management to balance work, school, family, friends and love life. I am sure, they will understand and be happy for you if you pursue your dreams and give you the time you need.

The world is big and we are small.

You have a lot of choices in your life, but you don't have to think one choice will make you less.

Any job can be a value to society or community, or be one of personal profit (Police can work to help community, or take bribes and make money...just like every other job).

There are many careers in the police force beyond walking the beat, and in most police forces around the world that requires a degree (and there is no harm in further study after that). So an intelligent educated police officer is likely to rise high in the ranks and have a good career.

One suggestion out of 1000s would be to study something to do with law and work in the police force. Lawyers I know often criticise the police for not knowing enough about the law (often jeapordising cases or impinging on the rights on individuals)

Talk to people in the proffesions to see what they suggest.
