So Indonesia a country with the worlds largest Muslim population who are still developing but desperate to assert control in SE Asia are apparently planning to develop a Nuclear program with the assistance of China and to actually buy Uranium from Australia, than beligerantly mock us at every opportunity ! Isn't it about time we in Australia used our vast Uranium deposits for "our" good and stopped exporting it to China, India and other potential threats ?

It seems the population are afraid to go Nuclear through ignorance, but are happy to sell it to the enemy ! Cutting of our nose to spite our face ! For what quick profits ???

I don't think either of us should have a nuclear weapon but anybody who doesn't think Indonesia are Australia's biggest threat are kidding themselves.
I have always been wary of them there is a lot more of them than us and they dont like us very much.

Indonesia is one of the signatories of the nuclear weapons non-froliferation treaty in the United Nations. So this means that they never intend to possess nuclear weapons. But for utilizing nuclear technology for peaceful use, that's entirely a different matter, and they are entitled to it. It is their right and no other nation can dictate to them that they cannot benefit from the use of nuclear energy. It is up to the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) to monitor and conduct inspections to make sure that Indonesia will not be using nuclear energy for destructive means. Australia have their own representatives in the IAEA and it is their role to make sure that Indonesia will abide by the IAEA rules.

Wayne. I don't think anyone should go nuclear at all. Muslims aren't all terrorists, terrorists aren't even true Muslims, they're horribly misguided. Those who know the religion know it is a religion of peace. Not every single Muslim out there wants to eat Australian babies, and so far I haven't heard the tiniest inkling of information that Indonesia has any interest in Australia. We should all just get rid of our nuclear power and leave it behind. There's no need to kill people on that scale. At all.

Edit: Pardon, hah! I was just in the habit of writing America from my last answer, a little mix up from the brain to the fingers, I corrected it.

no need to be Parno a.k.a Paranoid

if you want to surpass Indonesia and go Nuclear go ahead... anyways its not for a Weapon of Mass Desctruction but for the shortage of electricity in some regions in Indo...+ its going to star construction in 2010 - 2016 or 2017... BTW there are Nuclear reactors already in Indo that has been built in the 70s (but tiny scale) and is still used....

@Molly we Indos actually think its You Guys that hate us....

Im British, if the Aussies are anything like the Brits, which I hope that they are, for resourcefulness, the Aussies will be ready for anything. They are a strong power and one to be respected.

P.S: I hope they have the bomb!

I think Australia should do every thing it can to be able to defend itself. I don't think the one lady understood that you were from Austrailia, since she mentioned eating American babies.
I am American, by the way. And I think our ANZUS partners should have every opportunity to defend themselves if need be.
