Since Paul in Romans made it clear that a nation who believes in Jesus Christ are the sons of Abraham, they inherit the promises of Abraham.
And there are certain ones that were passed down:
"No weapons formed against thee shall prosper."
"I will bless those that bless thee, and curse those that curse thee."
Ye shall possess the gates of your enemy."
If the US is a Christian nation, then God will hold true to His promises.
There are controversial prophesies concerning the US, and I am one who believes that the US is talked about concerning the attacks of Gog and Magog upon the 'Land of unwalled cities'.
That would be Russia attacking the US over the North Pole. I have heard about this years ago, now Russia is currently getting all funny.

Yes it's simply an Ignorant belief. Everyone want's "God" on their side. Especially America. But 1 out of 5 Americans cannot even find our country on the map. There is no biblical basis for this Revelation.

God is not protecting America.Nor is this a Christian nation by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, the composite Beast of Daniel and Revelation is describing the USA,though that isn't taught in pop-prophecy,which is all most Americans are exposed to these days.

No it's probably when churches speak out as if Muslims are all evil and George Bush says god is on his side after he was elected by a majority of mostly Christian voters .
The Framework of our govt. supported an aristocrisy in a rebublic not a religion . the additives of god in the pledge and on the money were not of this framework but pushed into being by powerful religious groups against the constitution.

Hiya , Good question !!
Unfortunately there is no Biblical evidence to even remotely think that God is protecting ANY country today.
Since the Jews abandoned Jesus in the first century there has been no chosen people , as regards a physical location on Earth.
Not America , not Rome , nowhere.
God however does have a chosen people.
These people PROVE this by their beliefs , words and actions.
They truly follow Christ in every way possible , while maintaining political neutrality , not participating in wars of any kind and keeping separate from Satan's world system of today.
Additionally they reject all false religious practices , either man made or from pagan sources.
They follow what the Bible really teaches !

God immigrated here in 1776, just kidding! BTW, not all the founding fathers were mainstream Christian. Franklin wasn't, Jefferson wasn't, Monroe wasn't, and don't forget the many Quakers who made up over a third of the continental congress.

My answer is the biblical basis although i could not exactly refer which verse or chapter, the reason why it is somewhat being protected as you say it is because this country is not an idolatrous nation most church has no idols or saints being venerated or prayed upon as intercessors or mediators they are not violating God!s warning that idolatry will beget curse. They pray directly to God and not for any person that they see as mediator, only one mediator between God and man and that is the man Christ Jesus

This belief stems from the undestanding that this country is founded on Christian principles. There are also those that take the verse:
(Genesis 12:3)
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
to mean that since we support the country of Israel God is blessing us (the verse was spoken from God to Abraham).
Personaly I do not believe that God favors an entire nation for the actions of a few.

The Founding Fathers did indeed set up a Biblical standard. I mean the first people that were elected were Christians, and the laws set up said that the people must believe in God, Jesus Christ, and sometime even the Holy Spirit. George Washington threw a man out of the army because he found the man was homosexual and said that it went against God. I don't care what others tell me, this country was founded on Christian principles...
As for the ones that think it isn't, then this quote sticks out in my head.
"All you have to do in order to changed the present, is change the past"
