Mapquest has a habit of giving directions that cross into the American border to some Canada-to-Canada destinations.

Does anybody know the fastest route (purely using Ontario) from Toronto to Thunder Bay? Highway numbers would also be much appreciated.

Use the add a stop feature and start with a shorter distance. Type in Toronto to Sudbury. Then add a stop Thunder Bay.

Highway 400 North, it becomes Highway 69
Then Highway 17 from SAULT STE. MARIE

Juan is right 400 north becomes 69 then highway 17 ( transcanada highway ) goes to thunder bay. The only thing is there is lots of construction on highway 17 these days so expect delays ( add an extra 2-3 hours to your trip )
