...but didn't really seem to know much about him (for example, he/she didn't know about the huge numbers of people Hitler killed/had executed), wouldn't you try to enlighten your friend and show him/her what kind of a person Hitler really was?
Personally, I would. Which is why I can't understand why some (keyword: *some*) Christians complain about how some atheists "attack" Christianity. I'm sorry, but there's just a lot of upsetting stuff in the bible, and in the same way that I wouldn't want a friend of mine to be duped into believing that Hitler was a nice guy, I also wouldn't want a good friend sucked into belief that the God of the bible is simply a kind, loving God.

I find the last sentence of the second paragraph particularly disturbing.
If anyone feels that I've spoken in error, please point this out to me and why you feel this way. I like to think of myself as open-minded.

Hey, Ray: So if the devil killed more innocent people than God, that makes it all right? And you'll still love him for it? I guess I just don't have anything to say to that.

Hello again AdoreHim: While I do believe that there is a great deal of wisdom to be found in the bible (virtually all of it in the New Testament), I simply can't bring myself to love a God who has committed all of the atrocities spoken of in the Old Testament. And if we are Christians we must believe in the Old Testament as well as the New--otherwise, on what does faith stand?

liberty and James Dean: Far be it from me to deny that Hitler had many admirable qualities, including intelligence and charisma--as with God, however, I feel that his good qualities are far outweighed by the despicable acts they committed.

I don't think many people who call themselves Christians have actually read the bible. It's been said that reading it is one of the best ways to become an atheist.

If one can believe that it's okay for a god to commit atrocities, one can have no real understanding of morals. Some say that since they believe their god created us it has the right to destroy us. Of course, if someone uses that excuse for killing their children, no court of law would find that acceptable.
Why Christians Must Steal From Secular Morality:
http://www.caseagainstfaith.com/submissions/steal_morality.htm
Christians must steal their moral rules from secular morality. They have no choice, as the Bible does not offer a moral system, it only offers a series of contradictory commands and a supposed threat of punishment in the "afterlife" for not following them - a punishment that is given equally to all violators - whatever the sin.
The Bible does nothing and can do nothing towards inculcating moral behavior on its own. Christians must steal from secular moral systems, and then merely graft their 'God threats' on top of this moral system. This is necessary. And the reason for this is simple: there is no morality in the Bible and there can be no morality in the Bible, because the Bible holds that 1) ALL 'sins' are equivalent (destroying any moral sense) AND 2) all moral behavior is immaterial, because works cannot save a person, AND finally all people are damned from birth.
In reality, Christians realize that some actions are more moral than others. They realize that moral actions exist in a hierarchy, and that rape is far worse than stealing a pencil. Yet the Bible holds that all 'sins' are equal, as all deserve the same punishment.
Christians also realize that humans can be moral agents... they expect moral behavior from others, and they view their own children as something to value. Yet the Bible holds that man is worthless, that he cannot be a moral agent, and that his sole salvation comes from grace. However, since Christians realize, implicitly, that all of these these points are obviously, prima facie false, they must steal from secular systems, that hold that 1) man obviously has a value 2) all 'sins' are obviously not equivalent and 3) a person cannot be held to be doing anything 'immoral' without intent.

You know you raise an interesting point but as an aside I do know a bit about Hitler and he originally wasn't such a bad person, but became so because of things which happened to him. He was severely abused as a child and as a young man brutalized by several people, many of them Jewish and fought in the First World war which Germany lost and suffered with. Psychologically speaking one might see why he became the way he did. He was a pitiable pathetic man, but he did have one thing, power. But anyway the bible does have alot of bad things and problems with it. But there are plenty of good passages as well. I mean the bible was written thousands of years ago, you sometimes have to interpret it, because it may not mean exactly what people think it does. Hope this helps, and God does love everybody when they get to know him. I love God personally, he has saved and helped and healed me
Peace

I don't know about Hitler being a nice guy, but he did many good things for Germany after W.W.1. He started going downhill when he became insane.

the reason we love to talk about our faith in Christ, is because we do care about others. I would not want a good friend, or anyone for that matter to miss out on Jesus, and His love and grace- just as the atheist has a right "to share" with their friends- so do we. God is just and Holy- we are sinners- however, He is also a God of love, mercy and grace- His Son was sacrificed that we can know His love. I would not want my friend to not know about God, because I chose not to tell him/her. Goes both ways, doesn't it?

Before both of us converted to Islam, me and my friend were Jews. Nonetheless, we admired Hitler greatly. Actually, this man was the most virile and masculine person from European descent. That he lost was due to treachery and the great odds he faced. He was, nonetheless, a true human being with a superb feeling of matchless romanticism.

if you use evilbible as your source, then you seem unable to open the Book for yourself, which seems pretty weak-minded to me.
and PS, I have read all the "attrocities" in the Bible. and by Septuagint translation, the devil killed more btw. even if God killed more, I'd still love Him, so again, fruitless effort.
