All the companies whose products appear on the programs pay for what is done. You will notice, for example, that every Extreme Makeover Home Edition program features Sears Appliances (Kenmore) and other items. Advertising is the fuel of the television engine.

Sponsorship and product placement have a lot to do with it. The show's producers are not paying consumer prices for the tools and materials, the manufacturers get free advertising or special mention and it's a tax write-off for everybody involved.

Companies donate services for 'product placement' on the show. The window company may donate windows for the project if they use the window company logo or say the name in the show. Think about how much they show the Home Depot name and logo on those shows.

It's simply a case of good publicity!

Every single product you see on those shows or stores they shop in are paying for this...

There are also sponsors and companies that contribute to the show to get their name out there.

They have advertisers and they mention who gives what and it's free publicity for their products and a tax write off for them.
