because what a person believes defines them ... attack the belief and attack the person ... and one should be tactful and sensitive and have alittle insight before attacking and offending people ...

you basically said that Jesus could not be poor because he was a Carpenter. and that because you are a carpenter that has no beard that jesus would have no beard.
first off. Carpentry in that time. not the science it is today. most everyone was poor by the standards of today. and the carpenters and brick masone were probably at the bottom of the barrell for a long time.
second the beard thing? are you insane? i know plenty of carpenters that have beards.
as to why people answer these questions rude....you make great assumptions about things that people thave been told for their entire lives and expect everyone to be nice and agreee with you.
for example.
you are a carpenter.
I am an electrician. i do not know a lot about carpentry. but i know that electrical work is much harder, and requires much more knowlege. i mean all you do is nail a few boards together. anyone that can read a tape measure can do everything that you do. it is practally unskilled work...
(i do not actually believe that my dad is a Carpenter. and i have some knowlege about the skill )this is how your question comes off. that is why people were rude.

Keep in mind, some people feel that this is just a forum for them to bash on others' beliefs. That seems to be the nature of about half the questions/answers I've read in this category.
As for the question of religion, I can see where people get sensitive; my religion is like the cornerstone of my life, everything is built atop/around it, so when you insult (or say something that I perceive as insulting to) my religion, it's as if you're insulting my whole life; I think some people need to get a thicker skin when it comes to this sort of thing, and not go about looking for insult

I suppose people just give their opinion and hope other people agree with it, also i think rude answers are the result of the points awarded for answering.
In answer to your second question, I think people get defensive because of the expectation that you're implying something 'smart' and making fun of them and what they believe. It's very easy to get used to the insults to the point where you just expect them from everyone.
There's a difference between and gunuine question about religion and a snide, suggestive question intended to prove a point. Some people get these confused.

They answer the question for the 2 points and possible additional 10 points if you are nice and give it to them. Others just want to let you know their opinion. People get sensitive because it is something they deeply believe in. Like you wanting smart non-rude answers is something you really believe in.

People are probably sensitive on the topic of religion because more people have fought, killed and died over religion than any thing else in all of history.

good question...I think it's a sensitive issue because it's so close to their hearts. They get defensive because they take Jesus and God very seriously.
as you can see non-believers can get rude too. I guess they take the non existence of the two very seriously.

people are sensitive about religion because they dont know what they are talking about, they were told everything they believe with no proof of it, and when u talk about it it scares them because they dont know how to deal with something they dont truly understand. and i read a few of those answers, some (like mine0 are just playing around because we dont believe in jesus.

Well, jesus as you see him in drawings looks and apears to be the tipical isrealite( sorry for spelling) of his time, there!
And how do you know what your talking about if you have never been told? people getting offended when you talk about Jesus because alot of people hold a deep repect for Jesus because of the impact he holds on them wether they have experienced a miracle or the unexplainable love of his......Its like talking about your mother but worst!
See,I didnt get offended,And no one told me that,It came from my experience

Because it is a personal choice, a way of life, so people are very sensitive about it.
