I'm sorry coach, but if you ask a question like this, someone's opinion isn't really going to matter. The only thing that matters is how God sees you, and me. And no one is without sin.

A person with sin cannot enter the presence of a holy God. That is why Jesus died on the cross, to take the punishment for our sins.

Because "good" isn't the point. The point of life is the relationship that was severed between God and man in the garden. Since God is the definition of perfection he can not have anything with imperfection come near him. Sin is imperfection, so he set a way for sin to be removed. If you do not accept this method of removal then you are still severed from God, by your own choice since regardless of anybody else you do know about the choice, God gives you what you want with eternal separation from him, which would mean that you do not go to heaven.

To go to Heaven one needs to be without sin. No one is without sin. Think of the best person you have ever known, seen, or heard of. Were they totally sinless? I assume you know who and what Billy Graham is. Even with all the good things he and his organization have done, he'd tell you that by no means is he worthy of heaven on his own accord. Jerry Lewis, comedian (mostly clean comedy) made people laugh. Good singer, made people appreciate music and his voice. Jerry Lewis telethons, bring in lots of aid and money for the disadvantaged. As good as Jerry might be, he can't earn Heaven. If a person could get to heaven by their own good deeds would mean Jesus died for little or nothing.

and who's to say they aren't?

Everyone is going to have to go througha personal "Hell" where you will go through a kind of repentence process for all you didn't get done here.

see, we all have the atonement - Jesus suffering for our sins.
we can take advantage of that by repenting.
not like when you hear some preacher preaching 'Repent all or you are damned' kind of thing, but like when you truly know you have done something wrong, Talk to the Lord about it, fix the problem with those you are associated with if needed, and choose to be better and not repeat the sin.
now, some things are hard. like gossipping for example. as long as you repent and really try to stop and be better, Heavenly Father will recognize that you are really trying and forgive you.

Hell comes for all those things we never took advantage of fixing during our mortal existence.
we then get to go through a personal Hell.
instead of Christ suffering, you suffer for your own sins.

then as you have done that, we go through a final judgement kind of thing. I can assure you, probably no one you know will not make it into Heaven. almost everybody will be able to go to some degree of glory.
i've heard that you can count on one hand those that will not be able to enter into Heaven. that is reserved for the absolute most wicked.

so if it's worrying you, don't stress it too much. Truly good peole will absolutely eventually end up in Heaven

It's your own assumption and not a fact.I am told that most of the good people are quite happy where ever they are. They feel Heaven isn't what it was way back and some places like parts of USA are even better.

Well good people are good enough when they are, but the problem is God is the one who says anybody who is good enough not anybody else. You need to accept Jesus Christ as your personal saviour and King of your entire life. He died for you, we can give our lives up to him. He loves us and wants what's best for us. I know it is a wee bit scary to give up your life, because are all about relying on your self, but you will know a love and joy and a peace that defies knowledge and understanding when Jesus looked my way the whole Earth moved.. I was so in love with my King and I still am!! Praise and blessing be with my King!!! Jesus!

It is really hard not to use the Bible to explain why we are not good enough, because the Bible explains what is good and what is evil- however I can say this- compare yourself to God, instead of others, and you will begin to realize that we cannot measure up to Him-because He is Holy and we are not. My question to you- how good do you think you have to be?

because "good" is open to definition:

a man opened his orphanage and served in it wholeheartedly for 23 years. one day, he gets married and leaves the orphanage to someone who he has doubts on his capability, yet he says "what the heck" and leaves. within 2 years, 41 orphans die due to poor management. does he deserve to get into heaven, or will he go to hell? 23 years of good vs 2 years of evil.

an elderly man is in a home, in pain, with few weeks left to live. an observing nurse sees his pain and "puts him out of his misery". the next day, his grandchildren come for a visit, only to be horrified of the news. was the nurse benevolent, or malevolent?

Because no one is good. We are all sinners, each and everyone of us. We each deserve to be separated from God, which is Hell. But God loved us so much, that He made a way to erase our sins so that we can spend eternity in Heaven with Him. He is an awesome God!

Maybe because if you say you are "good". Well you probably aren't all that good. A good person wouldn't go out saying that he is good and knows that he's going to heaven because he does good. A good person will just know it inside and not say anything to anyone to rub it in peoples faces.
