I had a bad impression at first, I did not understand, and did not like the way some acted...when they came to the door.
I talked with one and am starting to feel a little different, if nothing else, i have new respect for them. They have a lot of logical arguments, about many things..I think they get a bad rap from the few who will not leave the door step...It's OK to hate this born catholic, turned atheist's answer..but i think every thing should be heard before one can judge.
I mean every religion has chopped up the bible..left things out..look at the dead sea scrolls..a story about an angel who would not bow to man..gods greatest creation, that was left out, and that is how we got the devil..
Even a dramatic play write got a shot to re write it..king James version....guess who that was.
The bible has been messed with..tainted..guess what the enemy is in Hebrew??
culture is what it is, and good luck changing it.
there are more then 10 stories left out...
so, all i am saying is question every thing.
It is so easy in America to say one racist..don't make us all racist, one AA thief, don't make all of so....one knock at the door does not account for all....
One hundred priests don't make a whole church molesters...yep. I said it. i could go on and on, but, good night.

I think the individual Jehovah's Witness is misled by their Organization into serving an Organization rather than having a personal relationship with God and serving Him only.
The Jehovah's Witness religion has had many inconsistencies in their beliefs over the last hundred years which have caused hardship in the lives of their members. Some of which are their beliefs in the matters of:
immunizations,
blood transfusions,
higher education for their members,
end of the world prophecies.
these are just a few examples of matters they've changed their minds on. They casually call their new understanding in these matters "New Light," but it's not so casual of a matter for the people who have died and their families have been destroyed because what was once forbidden is now allowed.
Because of this, I cannot endorse their religion as another innocent avenue to worship God. I believe involvement with JWs is very dangerous for the individual and the family unit.

Jehovah's Witnesses are unique for their rejection of paganisms, use of God's personal name, and global preaching by every active adherent. No other religious organization can claim such purity of worship.
These facts about Jehovah's Witnesses are perhaps relevant to this question. The more one compares this Christian religion with others, the more remarkable it is shown to be.
1. Jehovah's Witnesses have no paid clergy. Yet they remain tightly organized with more than 6.5 million active Jehovah's Witness preachers (about 16 million associate themselves with the religion). Even fulltime preachers and workers at their branch offices are unpaid volunteers.
2. There is no elite class among Jehovah's Witnesses. Even the few 'anointed' among them enjoy no special privileges in their congregations on earth. An anointed person (one of those relative few with a heavenly hope) is not elevated above his fellow congregants in any way, and he may not even qualify for appointment as a simple 'deacon' or elder. There are no titles; EVERYONE is addressed as 'brother' or 'sister'.
3. No person benefits economically from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Even the 8 to 20 men who serve on their Governing Body receive simply room, board, medical care, and reimbursement for certain personal expenses according to the exact same provision as every other branch volunteer.
4. About a hundred men have served on Jehovah's Witnesses' Governing Body committee during the past 125 years or so. The vast majority of them have spent the vast majority of their adult lives volunteering for their organization's purposes, and the vast majority have died faithfully and near-pennilessly while still under their legal 'vow of poverty'.
5. Amazingly, Jehovah's Witnesses did not splinter as a sect from some other religion. Instead, a truly tiny but sincere group of bible students studied only the Scriptures to determine the will of God. Thus their religion remains absolutely independent of and not carrying the sins of Christendom's history, yet carries the authority of Christ's teachings.
6. Despite the distortions of anti-Witnesses, throughout their modern history Jehovah's Witnesses have refused to claim divine inspiration or infallibility for their teachings. They have pointed to the bible (and not any particular translation) as the only inspired infallible means of knowing God's thoughts. For over 125 years, their teachings have been presented as merely the results of sincere bible research by imperfect but godly humans.

I am not one of Jehovah's Witnesses, but that does not prevent me from having the greatest respect for the members of their faith. I met several Witnesses during my incarceration in Gross Rosen and Buchenwald concentration camps. Their behavior was so exemplary and their religious convictions so outstanding that they gained the respect and the admiration of all the other inmates. Even the SS were impressed by them. Jehovah's Witnesses will always be welcome at my house. Said P. V., United States

" Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor." Exodus 20: 16. I choose to worship in the Seventh-day Adventist Church because they worship God like the Bible teaches and I search for truth in the scriptures like the Bereans if it was so. " I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." John 8:12

I think the members are sincere in what they believe, and that they actually do think they have the truth. The problem is that they don't.
I am a former JW and can testify that the Watch Tower Society is a false prophet. Their doctrines are unscriptural and unChristian.
You can appreciate their zeal for God and wanting to spread what they think is His truth, but just because they have zeal for something doesn't mean it is the truth. The Nazis were well organized and zealous, but their truth was dictatorship and murder.

They annoy me, plain and simple. I hold nothing against their faith, but I have a big issue with them pushing their beliefs onto me, telling me I am a bad person because I am an atheist. If they quit doing the door to door thing, I might actually have a little respect for their beliefs.

he even named us..........you are my witnesses is the utterance of jehovah.
well, i'm not, but i am studying to be. you get baptized only after making a dedication and taking in accurate knowledge. that is why you have to know the bible to be one of jehovah's witnesses. this much i know. already i've left my former course of life and boy was is debauched. it's a good thing god is merciful and forgiving.
and bytheway..........a cult follows a human like the pope or someone. all of our beliefs are scriptural. even if it wouldn't suit us, we know it's the word of god. i use a kjv bible. it's no different than yours except where the divine name was replaced with LORD. read your appendix. LORD replaces yahweh, or in english. jehovah. why do they take away holy scriptures?
have a star
if jesus and jehovah are the same, why did jesus say the father was greater than he? why does jesus not know the hour of judgement, but god does? why did jesus say he does not do his will , but the will of the one that sent him?
sounds like two different persons to me.

They are all nice people (the ones I have met), but I do not think much of their beliefs and I want them to stop coming to my door.
They come every week (for 11 years!) I give them props for persistence and conviction, but it is a little like stalking or persecution after this amount of time.
