Diphenhydramine as a sleep aid is recommended at a 50mg dose at bedtime. There's one problem with this drug, you may still be dizzy and sleepy next day. Depending on the patient someone can fall asleep with as little as 12.5mg (I'm one of those patients). If you've never try it before, start with 25mg. Be very careful the next day, especially if you are going to drive or use machines at your job. I'll recommend you to try it on a day off to see how it works for you.

NO ull end up with a stomach upset and ulcers probably stop taking them now!!! mayb try having herbal tea or a bubble bath b4 u go 2 bed if u have trouble sleeping?

You should first understand what is Diphenhydramine !
What is diphenhydramine?
Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine. Diphenhydramine blocks the effects of the naturally occurring chemical histamine in the body.
Diphenhydramine is used to treat sneezing; runny nose; itching, watery eyes; hives; rashes; itching; and other symptoms of allergies and the common cold.
Diphenhydramine is also used to suppress coughs, to treat motion sickness, to induce sleep, and to treat mild forms of Parkinson's disease.
Diphenhydramine may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
It is not a drug to be used for sleeping and it is not advisable to take it for this purpose. Consult your physician and do the needful. Howerver please note the following are the side effects of this medicine -
What are the possible side effects of diphenhydramine?
Stop taking diphenhydramine and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives).
Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take diphenhydramine and talk to your doctor if you experience
* sleepiness, fatigue, or dizziness;
* headache;
* dry mouth; or
* difficulty urinating or an enlarged prostate.
Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.-

personally, i'd take 100mg and a couple cold beers. then you'll be money.
