is there a certain system to it or is it just random letters and numbers?

No!

I was recently trying to enter a hard to read code (many characters can be easily confused) trying to enter it correctly in the many different possible combinations, after several wrong attempts (10 or less) it locked my account.

It stayed "locked" for about a day and a half.

So the answer is definitely no.

Each number is an encrypted value with checksums so the program reading them can tell if it is a valid possible number by checking the checksum. When it is accepted, it is checked against a list which contains the winners. As I recall there are 16 characters in the code and each can hold (presumably) 26 letters and 10 digits. If you work out the possibilities, even if you take off the checksum characters, you are talking about odds of billions to 1 against guessing.

dude of coarse go ahead spend hours upon hours trying to get three points...go for it i wish it was possible. and any way in a good hour of trying you'll probably get only like maybe six points anyway so its not worth it! but go for it.
