Any vitamins are ok but watch out for minerals. Potassium will change the way your body reacts to Atenolol....you would need much less if you switch your salt from reg. salt to "salt substitute" which contains potassium. BTW Atenolol lowers your blood pressure by causing your heart to beat slower- this effectively lowers your metabolism and will cause you to gain weight. I have gained 60 pounds in the last 7 years despite my constant efforts to stop it.

Age 21:
Weight- 145
Heart rate-100bpm
Blood Pressure: 90/60

Age 40:
Weight-205
Heart Rate-60bpm
Blood Pressure 150/110

Also: Do not stop taking Atenolol....that will cause a heart attack...if you need to get off it...do it slowly by cutting down on your intake over 2 or more weeks.

I have not heard of those blood pressure medications, but depending upon your age - there are not too many vitamins that you cannot take. Vitamins are only 'supplements' to what you should and would get in your food. Most people don';t even 'need' vitamins - children do because they don't always get all the minerals and vitamins in their foods - and also as we age -it is important that we maintain the supplements. I take the 50+ vitamins - one a day. Additionally, I take B6 and B12 (energy and healthy heart); I also like Ginseng, and Bee Pollen and some other vitamins for memory. I take a tablespoon of FlexOil every morning (with Lethicin) and I feel great MOST of the time. I rarely get colds and I have noticed a reduction of asthma and sinus problems. If I were you, I'd check with your physician...first! If you get a go-ahead - then go to your local health food store. They are the best in recommendations for healthy products - natural products. Good luck and healthy living.

When you're taking a prescription that controls your blood pressure, you should always consult your doctor's office. Just ask for a nurse and she can usually tell you what would react.

If the doctor's office if closed, call your pharmacy and ask before taking anything.

Your medication could be affected by over the counter medicines for colds and minerals like potassium. If you take potassium, it will lower your blood pressure - maybe too much and cause dizziness because your blood pressure could then drop too low.

Just make sure your doctor knows everything you're taking and ask first.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

Medications are taken based on necessities or as a requirement on daily activities. In cases of vitamins and minerals, you have to consider the conditions or indications taking those. Well, the only accepted indications for taking vitamins and minerals are the ff:
1. signs of vitamin deficiency like dry skin, gum bleeding, easy bruising, etc.
2. during pregnancy when your growing embryo and fetus and as well as you is in need as supplement.
3. growing children because it is a supplement of their growth including bone growth.
4. you are a diagnosed case of vitamin or mineral deficiency after consultation to a competent and licensed physician

Well, it did not say there that all people must take vitamins though. Remember, those are usually synthetic and needs to be converted inside the body through its own metabolism. However, if you are eating green leafy vegetables, fish, meat, egg, milk, and fruits in a week time, I am very sure that your body has been supplemented with all the vitamins and minerals it needs.
ONETHING MORE WHICH IS IMPORTANT, there is what we call hypervitaminosis cases known in the world. These occur on people rampantly taking vitamins despite the fact that their diet is already enough to satisfy their required vitamins in a day. Every vitamins pills they take, if those vitamins accumulated inside the body, it can burn the cells and most of the times could cause a disease entity, hypervitaminosis based on what vitamins you take. Lucky for you if the one you chose won't accumulate, so anything in excess will be excreted out in the urine and to your bowel movement.
Therefore to conclude, if your diet is balanced in a day, Yet you still wanna take vitamin pills, those vitamins you took will either be thrown out in the urine or in your feces, or can accumulate in your body and cause a disease or problem.
Have a healthy and balanced diet to get rid of thinking about your vitamins.
Drink a lot of milk starting the age of 40 amongst women and 50 amongst men to supply calcium deficit.

have you been drinking enough of water? When you're pregnant you really need eight to ten glasses of water a day, especially as amniotic fluid increases. Sometimes dehydration can drop blood pressure, although pregnant women tend towards low blood pressure. It doesn't matter how many children you have, I've had seven livebirths and I still ask my midwife questions because every pregnancy is different! Lots of water, less salt and more protein. Good luck!

Most vitamins are safe to take but you should always consult with a doctor over these issues and never rely on an answer from a message board.
