present their sons with "purity" rings like the dads present to their daughters? If not, why not? Does not the responsibility for abstinence fall on the male as well as on the female? Just wondering.

Thanks, Georgia Peach. Re. the purity ceremony: as always, I am neither for not against the subject, but just asking a question.

The Purity Balls are just a show. They're proven to do nothing at all. And of course the women don't get to present their children-- think how many Christian men would have a problem with assertive women like that.

There have been a few male Purity Balls (haven't heard of many) and they're looked down upon.

Haven't heard of either of those, but there's no reason why you can't ask your minister or pastor or whoever is your spiritual leader, to perform such a ceremony. I'm sure they would be delighted - and yes, abstinence should be the responsibility of both sexes.

I haven't heard of one, but why not start your own tradition? Sounds like a lovely tribute to a fine son!
