Have you changed her brand of cat litter or moved her litter box? Are you keeping the litter box clean? She could have an infection. Call your vet and talk to them.

Whenever there is a change in litter box use, it indicates a need for a trip to the vet.
Many people assume that changes in elimination habits are a behavior issue, but they're almost always due to a physical problem. Often the cat has pain when it uses the litter box, so it thinks the litter box is causing the pain, so it will avoid the litter box. The longer the problem goes on, the more reluctant the cat will become to ever use a litter box again.
Take the cat to the vet, get a diagnosis and proper treatment.

Laundry, clothes on the floor, pillows, quilts where you have the section up by your face where you sleep, bathroom rugs--those are all things with strong smells that to a cat can mean 'pee here'. They all collect odors and if the box is too far away, or if there's too much perfume smell in the litter (to deodorize it) the cat will often use a secondary place to pee and looks for the stinkiest stuff they can find then 'goes' there. It makes sense in their minds, but it doesn't help humans much.
Is the litter box too messy? Too much traffic in the area it's located so the cat can't get privacy? Did you change litters? Did the manufacturer up the amount of 'scent' in the litter? Did the cat get repremanded while in the box or get chased off the litter box recently? All this could contribute to her finding a second spot to use.

Are you sure she is healthy? I have had cats all my life (over 30 yrs) and in my experience the only reason they pee out of the box is if they are ill or they are marking their territory. The last time my cat peed out of the box, we found out he had bladder stones.
If you take the cat to the vet and she gets a clean bill of health, then you should try Feliway. It is a pheremone spray and tricks the cat into thinking his territory is already marked by him. If the cat is stressed for any reason, this should calm him and hopefully make him stop peeing out of the box. I used the spray for my other cat when we moved into a new house and it worked very well. They have a room diffuser now and my sister states it also works extremely well. Good luck.

was she ever declawed?? this is very common in declawed cats..
if not could it be a change has upset her??
has she been to the vet to check for Urinary Tract Infections? Kidney Stones or other medical reasons??
what kind of litter do you use and where is the box? how many boxes??
(cats like non-scented litter best and frequently find beside the laundry machine to be scarey...)

My cat got a very bad urinary tract infection after I got her fixed. She was peeing all over my floors and by the time I realized why she had blood in her urine and it took 3 rounds of antibiotics to get her better. I have a cat right now that has diabetes and I'm having problems with her going on the floor.Usually when a cat suddenly begins urinating on the floors it means they are ill.

Did you get another cat or dog recently? This could upset her. There is a product called Feliway that plugs into the wall and puts a pheromone into the air that will stop the cat from "marking" and calms them down.

I agree, it's probably a urinary tract infection. I've had cats all my life, and when they do this it is usually a UTI, they are very common. Take her to the vet.

it could be a UTI, somewhat common, but very urgent to treat. I would get her to a vet soon, they can give antibiotics and treat it up nice and quick, but if it goes too long it could need expensive surgeries, never fun.
Best of Luck!
