Can someone tell me what law/laws he broke? I keep hearing he "solicited sex" in the bathroom. So did he try to pay for sex? I didn't hear that in the taped confession. Yes, I think the situation is sleezy, but I'm not sure I understand what law he broke if he did not try to pay for sex or actually get caught getting-it-on in public? I've been out at clubs and bars and have seen ppl "solicit" consential sex from strangers often. How is Craig's situation different, except tacky??
Also is a foot-bump and a hand grazing really a solicitation?

Sounds like Sen. Craig pled guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct. By his own admission, that's the law he broke.

(Disorderly conduct is defined as "knowingly disturbing the peace. It can include yelling and screaming type incidents. It can include threats that might not be severe enough to constitute assault. It can include public indecency offenses like urinating in public, etc.)

In the words of the great conservative commentator, George Will: "There are triple and quadruple standards at work here. I mean, he was arrested for lewd behavior that consisting of signaling an interest in sex. That goes on in 10,000 bars every Saturday night in our country. Obviously, this is about homosexuality, and the country coming to grips with this, and particularly the Republican Party, which has done so well electorally in recent elections by being against gay rights."

The Republican leadership is trying to oust Craig from the Senate for the "sin" of being gay. Shame on Romney & McCain for joining the lynch mob. Craig pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor that had nothing to do with his job. As Craig's lawyers said, there is no precedent for a Senate ethics review of “purely personal conduct unrelated to the performance of official Senate duties.”

Craig will fight the Republican leadership and he will win because, compared to the crooks at the head of the Republican Party, sleazy Senator Craig, from his lofty perch on a public toilet seat, has the moral high ground.

The officer said that Mr. Craig used gestures and hand signals to let him (the undercover officer) know he wanted. There were complaints that the bathroom was being used by male prostitutes for sex with other men.

I'm still trying to figure out when the socialists started hating gays.

There was a time when he could have saved his career just by switching political parties.
