By all means, if there are people on this site who prefer to discuss tourist-related aspects of Israel without being bombarded by politics, then I am personally happy to relocate our political discussion to a separate area. But I have to say that politics affects everything around here, so I'm not sure they are so easily separable!
Regardless of what we decide, I believe that we must retain some place on this site to continue our political debating, as there are clearly a lot of people who are very interested in it...

There are so many variables, it is really a hard question to answer. After reading what answers you already have posted, I agree with the majority of them. However, I would say that on the surface, the USA backs Israel, but underneath the surface, I believe though, when push comes to shove, our new president will back Palestine. Why? Israel has relied on the USA ever since they found they could do about anything they wanted, as long as the USA was dependent of oil imported from the Middle East. As long as we maintained Israel as a ally, we had power over the oil producers because they knew if they attacked Israel, we would attack them. My personal opinion is: I think it's time to end the support of Israel, let them stand on their own two feet. During the past 50 or so years, I have done an extensive study on the Jewish people and their culture. I am in the process of writing a book about the various "sects" of the Jewish religion. I hope you find the answer you are looking for; if and when you do, come back and share it with us. I would really be interested in knowing the answer you seek.

I doubt that the Israel section will be free of politics if such an section was created - there is already a politics section and people can't use that - if it is created that is fine and I may even enter the discussion - but to be honest I don't see any point to it.

I would not vote for this section because there's been way too much slinging mud, inciting hatred, and often grossly wrong info posted on this topic already. I worry it would just make things worse, not better. Just look at "WittyWeasel's" answer to this question and you see what I mean.
Now if there were a section on promoting world peace I would be in favour of trying that!

If you noticed, so far in the "Israel" section, 90%+ of the provocative and propogandistic questions and answers come from the Arabs and Mohammedans.
If there was a "Palestinian/Israel" political section, the vast majority of the Israelis and Jews wouldn't even bother going there, because we've already had a taste of the tenor of the Mohammedan mentality and we just don't have the time or desire to play those games of hate, ant-Semitism and propoganda.
Which means that if the Mohammedans didn't get any bites in the new section, they'd be right back here to spout off their "tin-foil-hatted" rants to an audience that just doesn't care to listen to that kind of ignorance.
Best solution . . . . just ignore them. We've got better things to talk about here.

I think there should be a current events section with different topics in it. You can make a suggestion here:

Sounds like a good idea since the nation of Palestine doesn't function as it stands today.
