I think I might have something such as OCD. Whenever I use a hot iron to straighten my hair, i make sure i unplug it. I say it outloud that I unplugged it, and I tell people I unplugged it. Then, we get in the car or leave the house. I always always always think it's still unplugged and I'm afraid the house will go on fire. But inside, i know that it's unplugged and nothing's going to happen.

I also do the same thing with my cell phone. If i use my cell phone, and then put it back into my bag, two seconds later I'd open my bag and check to make sure my phone is inside. I know it is because I just put it back, but I have to visually see it in order to believe it. But I will keep checking the phone over and over again. I'm afraid of loosing it, I know that, but it's annoying how I'm so overly paranoid with it.

Help =[

I WORKED AS A THERAPIST WITH ADOLESCENTS FOR TWO DECADES AND NEVER TREATED A SINGLE CASE OF OCD. YOUR SYMPTOMS APPEAR TO BE VERY MILD. STILL, YOUR LEVEL OF CONCERN IS ENOUGH TO RAISE A BIG FLAG. TIME TO HAVE A FACE TO FACE WITH A COUNSELOR - YOU WILL FEEL BETTER AND PROLONGING YOUR ANXIETY DOESN'T DO YOU ANY GOOD AT ALL. THERE ARE WEBSITES TO VISIT, BUT YOU WILL STILL NOT KNOW FOR SURE UNTIL YOU SEE SOMEONE. CHEER UP, YOU'LL BE FINE.

It doesn't sound like you have OCD. You have obsessive compulsive traits but that is normal. Many people have these traits and they protect us from harm by double checking on things. Obsessive compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a disorder because it interferes with a person's life. If your life goes on without any problems then you're ok. But if you notice that these repeated worryings are interfereing with your normal life then you might be progressing to a disorder and should seek the help of a professional. BTW my GF is just like you when it comes to the straightner. Must be a girl thing :)

Write everything you need to do in a piece of paper and once you have accomplished the task, put a tick mark on the item which will remind you that you need not have to go back to check on the iron, cell phone and what have you.

You will hopefully, acquire the habit of not checking things for several times. But if you feel that there is something wrong, it is best to get professional help.

How sad people have to be mean!!! I have O.C.D. Obsessive-compulsive disorder, for you people who dont know! I have had it for years and it only got worse! You dont mention how old you are ,But it can get worse as you get older. People and my family thought I was nuts the way I checked things over and over. It took me hours to get out of my house because I had to check everything over and over! then I started counting as I did my (rituals) and #6 was a number I could not use. Fires were the worst ! when I went to my mothers I had to check the stove and rooms (over and over) then I would travel home (10 miles) then when I got half way home I would have to go back and check again!
PS some people say (just stop checking) That dose not work! If your worried see a (GOOD) Psychologist they will let you know!

Yes, you have OCD. I know because I have it too and those are classic syptoms. Five years on Zoloft, Celexa, Effexor and a bunch of others helped me with the OCD but also made me slightly psychotic in return. Good Luck!

Just repeat in your mind during these situations that if it isn't who cares. But check once to be sure. But don't let yourself check on things more than once a day. It's normal to be a little weird about rechecking things, but when it begins to get in the way of enjoying life...that's when it's time to put a stop to it.

shes not retarded, i saw a tyra show about this, and yeah you do have OCD, just a minor case, there is people like you. This one girl pulled out all her hair from OCD and it didnt even hurt her. And this one guy goes through his house every night and makes sure every door and window is locked, and he has to do it 4 times a night without interuptions or he will have to do it again, sounds like you =]. There is pills, but i dont recommend them cuz its minor. I know that on tyra, they sent them to a theropy class or somthing and it susposably helpped.

maybe you have OCD. It doesn't matter. I'm the same way (probably worse). Just know that even if you are, there's something seriously wrong with everyone, as I have found out the hard way.
