Well, better than a beagle, but think about it..Foxhound...what are they trained to do? They have that loud hunting bark.

English Foxhounds are not a good choice if you're looking for a dog that's an easy keeper. First, I'd never dream of choosing any type of hound if I were looking for a quiet dog. Second, English Foxhounds are not bred to be mellow apartment dogs but rather as farm dogs and to run long distances while hunting. These can be lovely dogs but aren't exactly great couch potatoes.

Beagles are cool little dogs. They are friendly, easy to get along with and cute as a button. A couple of the negatives are ... 1) They do shed, 2) A friend of mine has 3 and she says they stink more than most dogs when they get wet (I cannot verify that though), 3) They don't bark - they sort of let out a long blood curdling howl. Obviously you've never heard it - once you hear it you will never forget it! Oh yeah, one other negative trait is they are tracking dogs. Which means, they will pick-up a scent and just start following it. I live in the country and remember one day years ago when a beagle ran thru my farm. He was obviously tracking something. I tried to catch him but he was running too fast for me. (I know - his legs were 6 inches long and I couldn't catch him?!) Good luck.

Doesn't bark??--well a foxhound is a HOUND dog--they bark a lot. All short haired dogs shed A LOT.
Amnswer is NO.

Well, he probably won't shed much, but these dogs are bred to be HOUNDS which bay and bark so you know where they are when they're out of sight hunting.

It's very hard to keep a hound on the property, they want to roam all the time. They will bark, and they howl. Not the kind of dog that is going to be quiet.

What you want is probably a basenji, they are quiet, barely shed, and are good medium size dogs.

NO. I belive the Foxhound was bred for equestrian fox hunting and that they bark their heads off when excited.

I suggest a shiz-tzu, they don't bark much, they don't shed at all and they barely need to be groomed, you may want to suggest a haircut if his hair touches the floor, it can be a real pain if his fur get muddy

hope it helps

bye

Good dog if you have a large piece of property and are or want to be a hunter.

Basenji. They don't bark much, but can mimic sounds. They make a yodel sound if in distress. They are very particular about their cleanliness.
