Hunting is a necessary evil, as you pointed out the licenses fund wild life management. You have some really good, valid points/arguments. I don't hunt incidentally, no particular reason. I read the article on hunters declining, I think one point not mentioned, allot of younger folk tend to play computer games excessively and don't get out much. Is that good or bad, I will let you be the judge. In the deep South where I live, people who hunt and fish don't waste what they kill. Some are so dirt poor, wages are low, that hunting and fishing is needed to put food on the table. Chow

The primary reasons are the loss of Hunting Land due to Posting No Hunting or Trespassing Signs on Property and the Time and Costs that Hunting entails.* Land Management and Land to Hunt on is a Big Factor.* Wildlife Management also plays a role.* The average age of the Majority of Hunters today are 45 and Up.*Encroachment of People on the availability of suitable Land to support Wildlife is being lost due to Urbanization.* Loss of Small Farmers means loss of Excellent Land to support Wildlife with Food and Cover and Reproduction of the Animals.*

I don't worry too much about the anti-hunters and their deep or 'shallow' pockets. I do worry about not giving them any more ammo to use against us like answering asinine questions on this forum about where one can buy or make a 'silencer,' where to buy a machine gun, or how to convert a certain model into full-auto. I mean, if they are asking on Yahoo Q & A can they REALLY have a legitimate use for a suppressor or a fully automatic weapon??? AND what legitimate application do these specialized weapons have for hunting, anyhow? You can't shoot game with a fully automatic weapon and if your rifle is too loud then get some hearing protection for goodness sake!
Back to your question, 'hunters on decline?' I think so. The only reason I'm still hunting is because I own my own hunting property.
Best.

I was just down at the gun shop, and the guy was saying that there are a lot more hunters last year and this year, probably because the moose and deer population has exploded, so there's more tags. Some people end up with 3 or more deer tags for themselves, ans most people will get a moose tag. For a party hunt, the moose tag is guaranteed! Why not go hunting?

Paul you must be a hunter? Well you go bag em buddy, sounds like you need to talk to Ted. I use to hunt with firearms and bow. You are right and I agree with you. I have gone hunting and never brought back game. That ain't to say that I didn't see some wonderful wildlife. I grew up in Wisconsin where deer hunting is a billions of dollars industry. You are right about all the money that goes into wildlife management. Think about this Paul. How many anti-hunters are willing to give up their nice homes and yards for wildlife habitat, which they stole from the animals in the first place. Get this the God I worship is a meat eater, He enjoys a good barbque. Read about the sacrifices in Levitcus and read in Genisis where He gave us plants and animals for food. My opinon is anti-hunters ain't got no complaint when they steal the habitat. I strickly fish and practice catch and release just because I enjoy the sport.

To comment on the first part of your question;
The club that I shoot with, when I joined back in the 1960's, had 70 members, most of whom were aged 16 to 25 years. Some of those are still members, but those that have left have been replaced by older members who see the need to belong to an organisation that will defend your rights. The result is that the average age of members in now 50 to 60+ years. There are one or two youngsters, but these are children of members, so hunting in this part of the world is definitely going to decline over the next few years.

They have no idea. They dont think of the repercussions, just what they want now.
There are no educated conservationist, wildlife management specialist, or game and fish officers in peta, why do you think that is.
They think that the animals will run free and the deer and bears will have tea parties together. Apparently oblivious to overpopulation and the fact that hunters pay for and protect wildlife areas.
BTW Hunting/Fishing bring in more tax dollars than any other sport in the U.S. There is much more money contributed by hunters than just 50-1000 dollars per person

i agree with you
anti hunters need to pay also how about the government start a fee to go in to a state or federal park that has to be paid unless you have a hunting or fishing license. the fee should be the same as the license

...mm... I've hunted all my life.. remember when a deer elk bear and bird license cost 5 bucks.. those were the days.
The bureaucracy has priced hunting out of the generic market.. put it in another income bracket than what i can afford. Greed and avarice make for too many chiefs and not enough Indians.
It's a rich mans entertainment any more... and what was a 'game warden' when i was hunting, is a armed outdoors patrolman, these days.. complete with a college degree in criminology or a police academy diploma, and some elementary animal science foo foo, just for the hell of it.
All that makes a GAME WARDEN these days a pretty high dollar employee, and poor folks cant afford there wages, so, the licenses keep goin up and up and up.. and fewer and fewer folks do it.
Ya get what ya pay for. I'd rather pay for another box of hamburger helper, than spend money that just expands a bureaucratic quagmire.

I hunt but I don't even make $50,000 a year. Wher'ed you come up with that figure. Yes I believe that antihunters need to put their money where their mouth is or stay the hell out of the debate.
Sorry, I misread your $ amount in your question. My bad.
