You may not totally eliminate the odor of the feces. As you know, that's how nature works. However, you can reduce the odor by feeding your dog strictly dog food only. As table food makes their feces odorous. There are also some dog biscuits (that you can buy from pet stores) that also helps in reducing the odor of their feces.

It is very important to clean up after your mutt to ensure accidents don't continue. After all, if it smells like a toilet to a dog, they will treat it as a toilet!
For carpeted areas and upholstery
1) Soak up as much urine as possible with a combination of newspaper and paper towels. The more fresh urine you can remove before it dries the simpler it will be to remove the odour. Place a thick layer of paper towels on the wet spot and cover with a thick layer of newspaper. Stand on this padding for about 1 minute. Remove the padding; repeat until the area is barely damp.
2) If possible, take the fresh urine-soaked paper towel to the area where it belongs - such as your dog's designated "poop zone", and let the dog watch you do it. This will help to remind your animal that eliminating is not a "bad" behaviour as long as it is done in the right place!
3) Rinse the affected zone thoroughly with water. After rinsing, remove as much of the water as possible by blotting or by using a vacuum designed to pick up liquids.
4) Use a pet odour neutralizer available at pet shops.
5) If the area still looks stained after it is completely dry from extracting and neutralizing, try any carpet stain remover available.
6) If the urine has soaked down into the padding underneath your carpet and /or into wooden baseboards, cleaning will be more difficult. You many need to remove and replace that portion of your carpet padding.
7) Make the appropriate "doo.zone" attractive and teach the dog where you want it to urinate/defecate. The retraining period may take a week or more. It took time to build the bad habit, and it will take time to replace that habit with a better outcome for you both.
For Floors and Walls
If the wood in furniture, walls, baseboards or floors is discoloured, the acid in the urine has affected the varnish or paint. The layer of varnish or paint may need to be removed.
Washable enamel paints and some washable wallpaper may respond favourably to cleaners.
Hope this helps!

A 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water. It will not stain and it will not set stains. It's the best thing to use on poo, pee, vomit, blood, dirt, whatever.
Clean up the poo, soak the area with the vinegar mixture, dab up, soak again, cover with a towel for about a day to let dry and you are good to go.
I DO NOT recommend Nature's Miracle, that stuff is just a lot of fragrence in a bottle. They call it an enzymatic cleaner, but enzymes never clean everything 100%
Vinegar is an acid - a weak organic acid that will eat the pee/poo/ vomit proteins up and denature them which destroys the proteins without any harsh chemicals, additives or fragrences that just mask the smell.
And it's a LOT cheaper to buy a gallon of vinegar than a small 16 oz bottle of nature's miracle!
Vinegar!!!

depends were it is, if on floor and no carpet then I use bleach water, which i mix together in a spray bottle . I put on a small amount of bleach sense it only takes a little and rest is more water, like 10 to 1 is how you measure it! which 10 is water and 1 is bleach, to give you the ideal of mixing it! On carpet its good to have carpet cleanner and clean the spot with a hand held cleaner you get at walmart around 30.00 ! You can also use vineger and water mixed together too. then vinger is suppose to work well ny getting rid of the oder so your pet want be able to smell it and go there again!! also head and shoulders shampoo works really well and smells better then vinegar!! it also stops the dogs from smelling were he went so he want go back to the same spot!!

Go to the pet store (Petco or Petsmart or whatever) and buy a product called Nature's Miracle. It should be a household staple in every home, pets or not. It is totally odor free, and it contains enzymes that break down all kinds of organic stains and smells. Works great on dog and cat accidents of all kinds, barf, blood.. anything organic. It is also not terribly expensive.

Good Luck! If you figure out a sure fire way to do that you will make millions! Ok, seriously now... what are you feeding? Wet food always smells nasty on the way out. A high quality food should help eliminate alot of the smell. The only way I have ever had non-smelly poops that disappeared within a day or so was feeding a raw food and bones diet.

If this is carpet, get a wet-dry vacuum. You can get a small one for around $50 or so from Home Depot or Lowes. Essentially what you do is put clean water on it to dissolve the doo-doo, and remove the soiled water. Repeat as needed.
They are good for saving carpet from accidental spills, too. Spill a coke on the carpet? Suck it out and do the pour&suck water cycle until you get it all.
Mr. T sez, "I pity the fool who don't have a wet-dry vac!"

By the way, if you want to discourage your dog from doing an indoor "poop" again, spray the area with a combination of Listerine and water...It really works...
