It was more of an expansion, and it is still going on.
All that matter that is in the universe now was compressed into a tiny singularity (point). It was extremely dense and hot.
The matter expanded outward from that teeny tiny point and the universe and we know and understand it, was born.

The Big Bang is a theory used for our solar system and all others that contain black holes. What happens is, a HUGE sun, like 400 times bigger than our own, uses up its own resources and it explodes (ours will do the same overtime, but not form a black hole).
How it works:
Think about our sun, and the massive gravitational effect it has: enough to hold 9 planets in orbit and then some more all the way out into the kuiper belt. Next think about the amount of energy our sun has!
Next, imagine a HUGE sun (400 times bigger than ours) exploding, and all its energy tries to escape but it cant due to the massive field of gravitation holding it in! Instead, a vacuum creates at its poles and all the energy left in that sun can only escape at these two points creating the black hole (if you study a black hole you will see that it points up and down into space, this is the direction that the energy from that sun escaped in, and it was a massive amount)!!
How it continues to exist:
The Black hole is not created from matter, but from energy. The sun is ALL energy, and no matter. The gravitational field which attempted to hold the energy in from the suns explosion (except where it escaped from its poles) never goes away because no external forces exist in space, so the gravitational field and the black hole just stay there unchanged, unaffected by anything else (note this is a HUGE gravitational field and black hole).
Where does matter come from:
Now, over time matter zipping around in outer space flys by the gravititaional field and by chance gets stuck in it. Over billions of years, more and more matter gets stuck in the field, matter collides, planets form, and even new masses of energy form and create new stars and such inside the galaxy.
The second guy is wrong:
To say that matter is never created nor destroyed is wrong. ENERGY is never created nor destroyed. If you are curious about how matter can be formed, look at nuclear fusion. In this case, two particles collide, and the output may be 8 or 10 particles! It is the same way the sun makes its energy, and the same way humans create nuclear energy/weapons. Note this is a VERY hard method to perfrom on earth.
All matter is constantly breaking down, its final stage is energy. When matter breaks down until nothing is left it is just energy. This is the science of entropy. In nature, all systems are slowing breaking down.
The Christian thing, as with all religions is fake. No religious claims are valid, and should never be used as an argument for science.

Matter didn't explode to make space. No one knows exactly what happened at the Beg Bang because no one has been able to combine relativity with quantum physics (in other words, we have no knowledge of how quantum gravity works).
As far as "did it create itself", it didn't. There is no such thing as before the Big Bang. It's kind of like going to the North Pole and trying to go north, the only direction you can go is south. Time is kind of the same thing, it's like the north pole with nothing north (or before) it.
As for God, I believe in a Creator, but the problem still lies with: if a designer is needed to create our complex cosmos, the designer needs an even more complicated designer to design the designer. Also, if God could have always existed, why couldn't the universe?

"Now from a Christian side, if God is as powerful as Christians say, couldn't he create himself."?
Seeing as in your earlier question you asked for the application of LogicReason don't you think it's only fair to apply LogicReason to your second question ... even though it had no ?mark?
Who made ‘god’ and How and Why?
The Rich and Powerful did with their imaginative minds because they wanted power over the people to make them even more Rich and Powerful.
There is none as pliant as he who thinks he will go to a burning hell for all of eternity if he doesn’t do as he is told.
Bertrand Russell: There is something feeble and a little contemptible about a man who cannot face the perils of life without the help of comfortable myths. Almost inevitably some part of him is aware that they are myths and that he believes them only because they are comforting. But he dares not face this thought! Moreover, since he is aware, however dimly, that his opinions are not rational, he becomes furious when they are disputed.

This question can never be answered, for how can it be?
BTW, if there is a God, then God by definition is uncreated. The material universe of matter and energy must have have a beginning. The immaterial universe of consciousness does not.
When God stated who He was, He stated, "I am who I am"
Figure out what the words He stated mean. What do the words "I am" mean?
BTW, God is not a Christian. Christianity is a religion that points toward God.

Your understanding is wrong. The big bang was an expansion of space, not an explosion. It most likely was a singularity created by the collapse of a previous universe (according to recent theoretical findings out of Penn State).
However, not every atheist is an astrophysicist like I am. In fact, very few are. So asking this here in R&S instead of in the astronomy section means you probably aren't looking for a real answer.

This is a typical "god of the gaps" argument, where the limits of CURRENT scientific knowledge are offered as proof positive of YOUR particular deity.
Unlike the mental vacuum of biblicaly literal explanations, science does NOT calim to have an answer for everything, however what it currently does describe about the natural world is VERIFIABLE, and this body of knowledge grows daily.
The gaps in our knowledge of that natural world that you so happily fill with your god are getting narrower everyday, and eventually, if not already, only the most wilful denial and ignorance will allow your magic sky fairy to exist in the minds of the scientifically illiterate or mentally impared.
If you were more versed in physics, theoretical physics, astronomy, and other cosmological scientific disciplines that operate at the "current" limits of our knowledge, you would then know how absurd and unproductive your "god of the gaps" answers truly are..

Great question without easy answers. Einstein discovered that matter was really just energy (E=Mc^2). Decades latter, it was noticed that the energy+matter of the universe balanced with the negative energy of gravity. This means that no "creation" had to take place. Stephen Hawking introduced the no boundary idea of time in the universe also, which is complicated but basically says the universe did not always exist but did not need starting.

You need to learn more. The big bang was not an explosion. It was an expansion. Besides the fact that it got bigger over time, the big bang has almost nothing in common with an explosion.
-The BBT is not about the origin of the universe. Rather, its primary focus is the development of the universe over time.
-The origin of the universe was not an explosion of matter into already existing space.

The big bang is whole load of rubbish. There has to be a higher being out there who put it all together. Our earth is the right distance from the sun. Not too close that we burn and not too far that we freeze. A chance big bang - I don't think so
After all if you look at an example of a car it just didn't appear. It had a designer, likewise our universe must have been invented by someone.
