Honey feeds. No cure.

A lot of people who swear by holistic medicine really believe in the benefits of honey and I'm sure there is some back up to the claim. Honey is used to feed the growing bee colony so it is obviously going to have certain vitamins and nutritional components to it. I personally don't think it's as useful as most people think it is: it's mostly sugar. It elicits insulin response just like sugar does and is used in the body like sugar. Also, it contains microbes which are deadly to children under the age of two and other people with limited immune systems.

Actually, honey has all sorts of uses. The ancients used it on cuts and wounds.... the sugar in it kills the bacteria... that's why you can leave it out in the air, and it will not rot.. It's just messy to put on a sore, put a piece of plastic over it, then tape. Google it... you might find all sorts of other things it was used for as well. As for a food, it is just calories. there is nothing magical in honey as a food.....And, as an aside, don't use it in your hummingbird feeder.... it weakens their bills.
