I had been menopausic for over a year and a half; was on Tamoxifen but it caused me to get polyps so they changed it 2 weeks ago to arimidex.

I will have the polyps removed in 2 months.

I did stop tamoxifen almost 3 months ago on doctor's instructions.

They said I am menopausic and could not have kids, never had before, that is sad.

I am over 40 years old.

Now I started bleeding which should not happen at all.

Can I get pregnant?

Is the bleeding dangerous?

I just want an extra opinion.

They will check the polyps when removed to check for another cancer.

thanks

I faced the same problems as you have described. I searched Yahoo for Arimidex and gathered all the information I could find on the drug. Everyone is individual in the way that drugs effect them and what their lifestyle needs dictate. I would investigate all the material I could obtain on the computer and print it out. Write down your questions and discuss them with your Oncologist. Good luck!

Arimidex and Tamoxifen work differently to produce simmillar benefits to reduce the chance of hormone receptive cancers recurring.

Arimidex is only used if the ovaries have ceased to function, while Tamoxifen can be used for women with some ovary function.

Both act to alter the free hormones in your body

If you are on Arimidex then your ovaries have ceased functioning and you cannot become pregnant.

The hormone fluctuations as your body adapts to this new medication can be responsible for bleeding in some women.
