What herbs burn well on their own dried w/o any kind of treatment on charcoal disks?..... I know I tried ground cinnamon on the charcoal once and it was lovely.....
any ideas? like rosemary or lavender? what have you tried? what should I just stay away from?

I burn dried leaves of white sage, the smell is fantastic! Careful putting ground cinnamon on an open flame, it will crackle, snap and pop at you! Sizzle a bit too, but the smell is yummy. Just stand back a bit.

I've burned lavender along with frankincense resin. I've also tried burning sage, but sage probably works better when used in a smudging stick. Most of the times I've used herbs for incense, I mixed it in with resins (copal, frankincense, benzoin, etc). Sometimes, I've tried adding dried rose petals to the mix, as well.
