If you have read the bible then this will pertain to you. Otherwise, just ignore it.
Do you find the bible useful for anything whatsoever, even if it's just for strengthening your disbelief?
If so, what is your favorite part?
I personally like the proverbs section.
I'm not Christian by the way. I'm just wondering because the proverbs section is the only part that seems somewhat relevant and reality based and I like it. I don't read it for religious reasons and I don't read it often, but I have read through it. I used to be Christian when I was younger. The proverbs section is the only part I like still.

When I was a child I spoke as a child I understood as a child I thought as a child; but when I became a man I put away childish things." I Cor. xiii. 11.

This is my favourite quote, I can not think of a better way to describe religion.

I enjoy the bible as a work of fiction and stories that give insight to the men who wrote it. Proverbs would be the part I like the best, mostly because it can be related to life.

Being a former christian myself, the new testament because of the seemingly miraculousw feats of Jesus, but I was fascinated by the old testament where God promised to "punish the enemies of His followers and make them (his followers) victorious, because when Jesus came around (according to him, he'd been around forever, just like His father, God) the old man decided we should love our enemies rather than try to kill them. Maybe wisdom comes with age, no matter how long that may take.

Proverbs, because it's so crazy. After that, I like Genesis and Revelations, and any of the blatantly insane bits that are scattered throughout.

The part where it says a woman is worth half that of a man. Uses, well the pages are great for rolling cigarettes, it makes a handy coaster, if I have enough of them and some planks of wood I could make a shelf, oh and I almost forgot, it's good for kindling.

I always liked the Exodus stories.

But my favorite part has to be Luke 2. I think it's just the associations that I have from childhood.

Asking such a question to get a rile out of the atheist, I believe you are wasting your time. Everyone takes their own thing out of what the bible says to them. If one is atheist, they don't go near the bible, because they are set in their belief. You have no right to change how the atheist feel, nor do they have the right to change, the way you feel about how you feel. I think your best bet is to feel the way you do about your preference on religion, and let others figure out their own ideas.
