Doesn't make any sense to me and it was worshipped long before Jesus ever came to the earth.
If I shot your brother would you make a small replica of my gun and wear it around your neck? Just sounds crazy. What do you think?

I agree. You do sound crazy. Why do you wish to shoot my brother. Do you think you are a better shot than he is.
They are all cops. It would be real crazy of you to try this. Besides, I don't need a little replica to wear around my neck, I have the real thing to strap around my waist and over my shoulder.
BTW, Christians worship God. The crucifix is a representation of the sacrifice of Christ and the cross is a symbol for Christianity. Not only are you crazy , but you are a lazy debater also.

Why do you group all Christians together?
I am a christian I do not worship a cross, I use it as a symbol which reminds me of my Lord, and his sacrifice. The cross was not worshiped before Jesus came, it is a recent symbol to remind us of the lord. It's not crazy, I believe you just don't understand why people wear crosses.
Where did you hear that crosses were worshiped before Jesus? That is so fake, it came to be a symbol because that is what Jesus died upon, a Crucifix.

Christians do not worship the cross. It is a momento, to see it, reminds us of of the sacrifice that Yeshua Hamashia ( the true name of Jesus) made for mus. As the Son of God, he could have called 10,000 angels to conquer the Romans and be freed from the cross. But our atonement called for a blood sacrifice (hey, I didn't make the rules) and he let himself be the sacrificial lamb to take away the sins of the world. So, as morbid as this may seem, the cross was where our souls were bought with a price. So when Christians watch movies of the crucifixion, the response should not be one of sorrow for the Messiah ( though it looks awful) , but of gratitude for his sacrifice for us. I hope to have eliminated any confusion.

Its because when Jesus died on the cross, he died to save us, so the cross is a reminder of how mush he loves us. And by the way christians don't worship the cross because then that would be idol worship. Catholics don't either!! Worshiping the cross would mean that we believe it is our God. A lot of people that are making fun of your question have no idea what their talking when they say that Catholics worship the cross.

We don't worship the cross, of course. We worship the One who died on that cross. And I'm sure you realize there is a difference between your brother and Jesus.

I think the reason Christians have become so attached to the cross (or rather, replicas of it), is because, even though it was a device of torture, pain, and death, God used it for good. I think Paul said it best in his first letter to the Corinthians 1:

18For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

First, they don't "Worship" a cross. It is a religious symbol.

You answered your own question when you pointed out that the Cross was a symbol before Jesus. However, the crucifixion is such a crucial part of Christianity, as is the belief that Jesus was resurrected, the fact negative aspect of the cross was mostly nullified.

I agree 100% and have even used your statement to others. Would you mount and frame such a gun and kiss it each morning?

The Cross, Peace Symbol, Dove, Mary Statues, etc, etc, etc. are all graven images defined by the Bible, Strong's and Webster.

Few will realize this nor accept it for they "think" they are doing right. But even the bible speaks of these people and how G_D is very unhappy with them. Even Ezekiel 8 goes over this as Ezekiel is led through heaven and G_D shows him how he is not pleased with what man is doing.

Proper way is to worship G_D in all you do, have no building and have no images of any type what so ever. It even tells us not to make images of what is above or below. But look at all the angel statues in peoples homes. Tsk tsk tsk.

I have a "religious" web site up, yet to see it you would never know it cause I have not one image of the such on it. Actually all that junk is what kept me as a atheist for most of my life. I knew it was wrong and couldn't and wouldn't accept it as truth that it was okay.

Christians don't worship crosses, crucifixes, pictures of Jesus, or anything else that is supposed to "represent" Him; we consider those to be false idols. We only worship God & Jesus. At least get your facts correct before you start the Christian-bashing.

I do not worship a cross. But, the sight of an empty cross reminds me that Jesus did all that needed to be done for my sin. Actually, I should also have a picture of an empty tomb, to remember that He is risen.

It's an empty cross. It symbolizes jesus' resurrection and victory over sin and death. The crucifix symbolizes Jesus' death and sacrifice for our sins. It shows the pain felt by him, for our meaningless pleasures to be forgiven.

Also, we don't worship the cross. It's a symbol. Like a flag. You don't fight in a war for the American flag, you fight for the country, for the life it represents, back home.
