Should'nt you christians be in the same ball- park? For some christians who believe the world is 4.5 billion years old and full of evolution isn't this a clear departure from your book?

I think that's why that Creation Museum is so popular. The ones who aren't sure about evolution go there to find out exactly where dinosaurs fit into the whole biblical scene.

If you are a Christian and think the earth is 4.5 billion years old and the universe is 15 billion years old... I would like to be emailed @ (cirion0000@gmail.com) I wanted to email the couple here but they were hiding their emails :(

Some of you are saying that "scientific facts are refuting the possible literalness of the Bible" well they don't. I will try my best to answer any questions you may have and to explain why there is only one possible explanation.

"Indoctrination at early age indeed"... I was, however by age 13 when I began to think independently of my parents and church, I realized just how true Christianity is, without so called "brainwashing". Especially now that I am 20, the more I study, the more I realize that not only is Christianity the truth, but also that the earth is 6000 years old and it CANNOT be taken any other way. PERIOD.

The Young Earth Creationists believe that the world is around 6000 years old.

The Old Earth Creationists (new IDers) believe that the universe and the Earth are old as science suggests, but that God has had an active role in perfecting his creation of Man. Evolution is seen as God's method of creating life forms.

David Mills calls the later group "great pretenders" because they take the view that Genesis is not literal but symbolic. Mills observes that the symbolic view did come about until geology and paleontology revealed the earth and life to be billions of years old.

In the first few verses of Genisis there is no way to tell how much time went by between verses. But even scientists tells us that we have what 6000 years worth of recorded history. If you read the first chapter of Genisis it talks about the fourth day was when God created a 24 hour day. That maybe a clue there but some still ??? I accept the Bible by faith, I believe it took 6 literal days, but I don't get upset if someone says its older. I do believe in Jesus Christ, and I know that the Bible says that by Jesus only can we go to Heaven. If you are not saved and would like to secure your future right now just Pray this simple Prayer believing in the Bible and its Authority.Dear Jesus, I confess to you that I am a sinner in need of a Saviour. I believe that you came to earth and died on a cross as a perfect sacrifice my sins and then rose from the grave the third day. I ask you to come into my heart and save me and make me a child of God, In Jesus name I Pray, Amen...If you will Pray this Prayer with a sincere heart you will be born again!!!! May God Bless YOU!!

Hey. People sway from the book all the time. Personally, I don't know how old the Earth is, but if you say 6000 years old from the beginning of man, I can understand that. The hebrew term "Day" can be interpreted differently from the point of creation until the invention of the sun-dial.

(Notice I said IT CAN be interpreted, meaning it's POSSIBLE.)

It's very simple, some Christians take the Bible literally, others, when faced with scientific facts, realize that it cannot be taken literally. There's hundreds of different Christian groups out there, they all don't believe the exact same things. That's the same in all religions, or how would you explain life in Turkey to life in Saudi Arabia? Or liberal Judaism to Orthodox Judaism? Or Wiccans who decry fluffiness in their ranks? I doubt anyone is immune from these differences, Buddhists perhaps, but I don't know much about them.

Some of us don't look at the Bible as a suitable "textbook for everything".
I view the Bible as a textbook for living a righteous life. I find examples of righteousness and unrighteousness there. This doesn't make the Bible contradictory, it just means that it presents different scenarios.

Any Christian that has spent any time reading their bible and getting to know God, would know that evolution is not real. The biggest problem in this world today is that our schools have taken God out of their teachings and replaced Him with lies of the devil.

Insanity is not equally dispersed.

The world is 4.5 billion years old. Evolution occurred. Let the cards fall where they may.

Actually, the age of the earth is irrelevant to whether or not there is a god.

The inaccuracy and ambiguity of supposedly holy scriptures, supposedly revealed by a divine being (who would have had to know a little bit about physics and chemistry) is pretty good evidence that those documents are fairy tales.
