i understand your doctrine and your beliefs. that is not what this is about.
i want to know why it is, that some of you feel the need to claim to have been a witch /Pagan before conversion. and then further claim that you know what we do. and then claim that we preform animal sacrifice or hold orgies etc. if you indeed were a Witch /Pagan before conversion you would know that this is not true.
do you get some kind of high from lieing to yourself. and to your fellow christians? do you get some kind of satisfaction
from acting like you know something that you really do not?
This is for thoes that do this. not for the rest of you that simply follow your Bible.
for the ones that do follow the bible, are you fooled by the ones that do this?

Hey Rey,
there is not an ancient religion on this planet that can honestly say that they never practiced Animal sacrifice. (yeah Christians included.)
the Celtic myth of Human Sacrifice comes from the word Sacrumferce. a Gaelic word that meant "to make sacred" Cesar took it to mean sacrifice as to kill another to honor a god. huwever the true meaning of the word meant to bless them and purify them so that they were worthy to speak woth the gods.
(Jean Merkale, Druids Celtic Priest's of Nature)
however they did in fact execute their enemies and often in a ritualized and brutal fashion...not that much different that stoneing them to death.
i am talking about TODAY. not 2000 years ago.

The problem with Paganism and Witchcraft is that there isn't really a central authority or agreed upon sacred texts. As a result, Paganism and Witchcraft can be any number of things, pursued any number of ways.
So it is actually possible that people who write the "I was a Witch..." questions actually were practicing some of the things that are entirely wrong according to your practice.
On the other hand, it is human nature to consider oneself superior to those who you disagree with. (No one ever says "I don't agree with him because he knows too much.") And one way to be superior is to be further along in one's life journey. So we often look for ways to claim that "I was once where you are now."
It's just a price to pay for interacting with others, I suspect.

There are many faiths that fall under the umbrella term "paganism" and some do perform animal sacrifice, voodoo and Santeria for example. The "Great Rite" is a ritualized sex act that many Wiccan covens have practiced, in addition to worshiping "sky clad." While not orgies strictly speaking, most people wouldn't consider these "spiritual" acts. So, there are things that are legitimate parts of paganism that are not all goodness, light, lovely fairies and goddess worship. It is not a huge leap from a Beltan ritual with the Great Rite and orgies. Your slice and flavor of paganism doesn't cover the whole spectrum of pagan faiths.

I use to study and practice as a solitary Wiccan for years. In my time, I've studied endless occult, new age, eastern, and neo-pagan religions and belief systems. I've researched many of the more popular modern occult traditions back to their original sources, from Alchemy, to Hermetic Cabala, and even Wicca. Now, I like to give back a little of what I've learned whenever people ask questions on these subjects. I never bother to lie, there are enough pseudo-scholars on both sides of the fence to make up false claims and fabricated histories. I don't sweep things under the rug or ignore the more unattractive aspects of these things either, though.
One "REAL" wiccan, who followed after the original tradition of the Alexandrian Wicca coven, once asked a question that got many other wiccans upset, even though what she said was perfectly in line with original wiccan beliefs.

No, not all wiccans or neo-pagans practice sex ritual, but there are many that still do. Some Wiccans practice completely naked, which most people would not find normal. Nor would they find wife swapping or having to have sex with a High Priest/ess normal. Little girls are violated with dildos in some covens. Boys have their forskin cut if they haven't been circumsized in some covens too. Incest, open marriages, sado-masochism and polygamy are all OK by some individual Wiccans and some covens. In some covens two Wiccans will have sex while the rest watch as "punishment for adultery" (refer to "The Good Witch's Bible). All these things are considered perverted by normal people.
Not all Wiccans practice human sacrifice, but apparently, some did. Gerald Gardner claimed he killed one member of his coven as a human sacrifice. Robert Cochrane is thought by some Wiccans to have been killed as a sacrifice as well. It's hard to know how many Wiccans who have died from supposedly from accidents were actually murdered for "Diana".
Seriously, I was a solitary Wiccan, and I did a self dedication ritual before I eventually left Wicca and ultimately, after several more wasted years, I left the occult altogether. If you don't consider solitary Wiccans "real witches", you're right...there are no "real" witches, solitary or otherwise.
Over the years I've read hundreds of books on Wicca and the occult. I HAVE done tons of research. I understand the Wiccan/Satanist/Occultist in General, etc. worldview, I simply no longer agree with it. You can understand what Communists and Nazis think without being one, can't you?

I guess some people have problems with the commandment that says something about "bearing false witness" Eh?
I am not Christian, but was baptized in a Christian church, just to give you some idea of my background (Dad's side of the family). I did my time in VBS, the bible IS NOT foreign to me.
I know of the person you are referring to, and it does not make me feel anger or dislike to all Christians. I am a witch, and have many friends in many faiths and I see the injustices done to them all. The stereo-typical Muslim, Hindu, etc. And I only believe half of what I see and maybe 10% of what I read (not sure it would be that high in Y/A though).

Well not all of us say that stuff I have never said that. Listen, I have a brother in law that claims to be wiccan. I have never seen him have an orgie or an aminal sacrifice. I do not believe how he believes because I am a born again Christian I love the Lord and I know the only way to heaven is through Christ Jesus.

It's a personal decision, especially since many aren't even aware of the roots. If one doesn't see it as wrong, then I say, celebrate it! God has given us the freedom to do so. But if it's bothering your conscience, then it would be sinful to do it anyway. See Romans 14 and 1 Corinthians 8. Four things to keep in mind: 1) We have freedom in Christ. 2) Each one needs to be FULLY convinced in his own mind, so as not to sin against his own conscience. Otherwise, play it safe. 3) We need to be conscious of Christians who might be stumbled by excersing a particular freedom. 4) Do not judge your brother for making a different decision than you. This applies to other holidays and various issues that can potentially cause division within the Body of Christ. My own personal decision: I know what Halloween stands for and I find it detestable. I choose not to celebrate it but I do not judge those who are either uninformed or who are informed and still able to celebrate with a clean conscience.

I don't ever remember inviting anyone to stand in judgment of my religion, so if any Christian wants to "bear false witness" about what I believe, I'd like to know what your point is? I don't have orgies, sacrifice animals or worship the Christian devil, which makes me wonder if I have been part of an dream for 50'ish years. If you have to lie about my beliefs then what kind of a Christian does that make you.
Religious equality is non-negotiable.

I take what everyone says here with a grain of salt. I truly believe there are some who call themselves Christian on here who are anything but Christian. They know it and are merely trying to discredit Christians.
I also full believe there are some atheists and others who really Christians doing the same.
I have no doubt you are right in your assumption as well that some claim to have been of a different religion just to make themselves stand out.

I'm not Christian but I will say I don't have a problem with Pagans. At least they are not violent (like Christians and Muslims have been in the past)just to get their beliefs spread. All Pagans I know are peaceful people. Which I respect that

um while i have never followed wicca and i do believe in a higher power & generally when I pray it is to Jesus. So I guess that makes me Christian that is the way I was raised. I personally believe all roads lead to the creator or in your case creators. I hate people who speak negatively of any religion including wicca as I have had many friends in my lifetime that are wiccan. When I question these people and ask them what they know they look at me like I'm crazy and most ask me what I know and tell them. They looked shocked that I have read about wicca and have friend in that religion. I feel that everyone should be allowed to reach their spiritual center in whatever way gets them their fastest if that way happens to be wicca for you than so be it. So to answer your question no I am not fooled by people who say that they have studied wicca. I think they are pathetic.
