She's one year older than me, but everyone calls me by her name. I got my hair highlighted, but it feels like people mistake me for her even MORE.

I am now 49 years old and had the same problem my sis and I are the same age every year for 9 days and we do look a lot alike it use to annoy me when I was younger her too, but along time ago when people mistake me for her I just say right family wrong girl and smile. There is really nothing else you can do about it why let it stress you.......

Perhaps streak your hair with some other shade so you will stand out a little more. If her hair is light, make yours dark and so forth. Maybe borrow an idea from the club scene... have a neon color forelock on one or both sides of your face.
Try changing your wardrobe around a little more.
Different color schemes. Different style shoes.
Maybe get a t-shirt or hoodie with your own name emblazoned across front and back. Or maybe get your name on a necklace.
