I was given a model of the USS Hornet and there was no guide lines on how to paint the camo or what colors to paint it. If anyone know can you please tell me.

Which USS Hornet? There have been eight vessels registered in the US Navy bearing the name USS Hornet, ranging from a 10-gun sloop commissioned in 1775 to CV-12 (later designiated CVA-12 and then CVS-12) commissioned in 1943.

I'm assuming you mean CV/CVA/CVS-12 USS Hornet, which is currently a museum ship. In that case, flat hull grey would be the proper colors with white detailing on the flight deck and vessel numbers/name on the hull. And, of course...black for the anchor.

Paint her haze grey. Use white paint for her name and hull number. Black paint for her anchors. She was sunk in the Battle of Santa Cruz Island and I don't believe she was camouflaged.

Which one? CV-8, CV-12, or one of many other ships that we had with that name?
