I love NYC....
Some of my favorite things....
Grand Central Terminal
St. Patrick's Cathedral
NBC/Rockefellar Plaza (I like Top of the Rock better than Empire State Building)
The Met
Natural History Museum
Staten Island Ferry ride
walk around Central Park
MOMA
walk through the neighborhoods in Soho
the network morning shows often have concerts during their show times
Something you may not be aware of....the museums are free if you know how to ask for your tickets... When they ask how they can help you, tell them you would like x number of tickets and then make a SMALL donation...I have done this at the Met and Natural History Museum...The prices posted are suggestions only. I then spent $$$ in the gift shops and cafeterias...The museum got my $$$ but I received something in return...A tour guide told us about this...He said all New Yorkers know to do this....it really works...
We (5 of us) were able to get Letterman tickets by going to the theatre around 8:30 a.m., fill out ticket requests and go through a very brief interview...We received a phone call several hours later telling us that we had tickets. It was the highlight of my most recent trip to NYC....
If you like to see celebrities, you can hang around outside the Letterman theatre (side entrance) and possibly see the guests go in/out. They often come over to the crowd for pictures and autographs....
Except for Top of the Rock, everything listed above is free...
Serendipity restaurant is fun...you need reservations...
The Color Purple is wonderful...I was able to see it with Fantasia Barino in the lead...She was great....
Tarzan is good, too...the special effects are worth the price of the ticket...
Don't be intimidated by using the subway...It's easy to use if you are good at directions and map reading..
sorry to go on and on but I really enjoy sharing my love of NYC!!!

Yankee Stadium----Yankees are playing Seattle this week AT HOME.... also the Metropolitian Museum of art or the Hayden Planitariam, Times Square, go see a broadway play---you can get tickets for MOST right online... take a carriage ride through Central Park, if you enjoy architecture, go see St. Patricks Cathedral, or go down to Chinatown (but don't eat at an outside eatery in Chinatown)... Go to Greenwich Village to the Tavern on the Green Restaurant...The US OPEN Tennis Tournament is being played over in Flushing Meadows which is only a short #7 SUBWAY RIDE from downtown Manhattan.. (the site of the 1964 Worlds Fair).... That should keep you busy for the week.
