Does that sound like freedom to you? I mean it's like saying, "You can do it your own way, if it's done just how I say."

It's no different than Americans claiming they have freedom. They were told they have freedom and they believe(d) it. It's not true. Just like the Soviet Union used to be, you couldn't travel without your id papers. We have to carry id cards by law. It's not PC to voice your opinion any more. Cindy Sheehan went to jail for expressing her opinion, if I'm not mistaken on the jail part. Americans believe they are free because they are told they are. Christians believe they have free will because they are told that they do. Lots of liars running things out there. May the sleepers awaken.

We have the free will to CHOOSE whether we obey the laws in the bible or not. Our country also has a long list of things you can't do. Don't you have the freedom to choose whether to obey the laws of the city, state, and government? Please explain how one is different from the other.

Oldguy63, you lose. John 7:17 -- If anyone chooses to do God's will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own.

It's a list of things that are dangerous for us to do. God gave us laws out of love not control. Just like I give my kids rules for their own good, because I love them and want the best for them. God gives me free will to follow His rules or not, but He makes me aware that there are consequences for not following His laws.
People today want choices without consequence or responsibility. That's why they try to deny Gods existence and deity.

Because most christians are very untaught in the Bible today. I challange any Christian to come up with one verse from anywhere in the Bible that says that man has a free will.

They have free will to an extent but they believe there's an invisible man in the sky who watches everything they say, think and do, 24/7 whilst whispering in their ear: You'd better suck up to me or I'll send you tho hell for eternity.

This is the only reason they say they 'love' him cos they're too afraid they FEAR him.

AND if a xian ever tells you they really, really love their invisible man, tell ‘em they’re lying (but assure them you understand their predicament).
Love under threat or duress is and always will be fear.

Free will is not possible in a causal universe or a universe where God imposes rules on us. But I guess some people just don't care to realize that.

LOL. The devil always plays to our pride. He constantly attempts to convince us that if we love God, we will have less personal freedom, less personal identity, and less pleasure. The end of lie is always tragic.

The purpose of God's commandments ultimately is not to keep you from doing thing that you find pleasurable or fun., but to guide you toward doing things that will bring you the greatest possible good in life.

You basically answered your own question. Yeah theirs things in the bible that are "rules" but that doesn't mean that people roboticaly follow them. Just like every nation has laws and rules citizens have to follow. But that doesn't mean that everybody does right? Same thing.
