I had crowns installed when I was pregnant. You can have dental work done during that time and it's better than waiting until after you have your baby. By then, the problems could be so bad that you will require more extensive and expensive work or have to get the teeth extracted. Just let the dentist know of your condition.

Generally the dentist likes you to be in your 2ND trimester but will not leave you in pain, local anaesthetic is fine while you are pregnant, they just have concerns over you getting stressed while undergoing the procedure unnecessarily, but if you are in pain it is necessary!
i would not have an amalgam filling(silver) done while i was pregnant due to the mercury and most dentists will only use a composite or glass ionomer(white fillings) while you are pregnant.
speak to your dentist ASAP
good luck with baby and congrats!!

Yes you can have a filling done. Alot of the time pregnant women have more dental problems than if they were not pregnant because of your hormones. That is why you always hear of pregnant women having there first root canal done when they were pregnant. Oh the joys of being pregnant!! It is all worth it though. My son is 13 months old now and this has been the best 13 months of my life. Good Luck and congratulations!!!

During my pregnancy I had a cavity hit, but they wouldn't do the filling until after my 1st trimester was over, so make sure they know how far along you are when you call your dentist. Also maybe check and see how your OB feels cuz they'll probably have some advice for ya.
Good luck!

You should contact a dentist immediately. The dentist will let you know what you should do if you can have the filling now or wait.

women who are pregnant get dental work done all the time. I used to work for a dentist.

Fillings are OK.How ever most dentists will not do x-rays if you are in your first trimester.

they will fill it temporarily and refill after the birth - I'm not sure why but that's what happened to my daughter.
