I think that justice is just self-righteous vengeance. The only righteous way to handle a crime is to attempt to teach the criminal to not do bad stuff, so he and everyone else can be happier.

Tell it to Adolph Hitler, or Josef Stalin. or Pol Pot, or Saddam Hussein.
They will laugh in your face.
Then they will kill you.

This leaves the victim with hoping that the next time it will be someone else? Your way is what is destroying system now. The founders of America believed that the punishment was to be so sever and swift as to deter the criminal and observers from doing the crime again. That system works.

Yeah right, unless he/she is smarter or more cunning than you. A number of criminals are very cunning and know how to say/do the right things to get out on the street again. They will let you THINK they are teaching them all they while they are manipulating YOU!! I am not talking about your petty or one-time criminals. Vengeance is what the mob does when it gets a hold of the wrong-doer. Justice is what the system does when it gets a hold of the wrong-doer. And the system is NOT perfect, but then what in our society/world is?

Philosophically, I think true justice is impossible because we can't go back in time to completely right our wrongs or reverse the damage that's been done. Legally, I think justice is just a form of vengeance.

the first priority of serving justice is prevention then it should be upgraded to avoid punishment and vengence they don't serve justice . But separation of the criminal element is imperative . protection serves justice it's for the innocent not the self righteous .

Some of them, don't seem to want to, or are not able to learn.

In the very least, we should protect innocent people from violent criminals..don't you think?

Anyway, what is wrong with cause and effect? The whole universe operates on that principal.

"What do you think about justice?"

I think it's a great idea and I hope it reaches the USA one day. Too bad for us is the fact that there is one 'justice' for white, wealthy, Protestant, heterosexual men and another kind of 'justice' for the poor, for people of color, for Hispanics, for political dissenters, for gay men and lesbians, for the elderly and disabled, and for women who aren't white.

The rest of your question is beyond me. I'm thinking you should devote more time to reading and research on these matters.

Be well.

It says in the bible if a man sheds another mans blood he shall be put to death . Also if we delay the punishment of murder and other crimes , people will not be deterred from doing the crime .
