I have dry, curly/wavy(mainly curly but not always spirals), frizzy hair that is thick also. I recently got long layers that you can barely tell. My hair is so poofy!!! It would be awesome if it was just less poofy. What can I do besides straightening.

Wash it in Pantene Shampoo & Conditioner for smooth/sleek hair. While its still wet, rub about a pea-sized drop of Frizz-Ease thru it. Dry it about 1/2 way with a blow dryer while constantly brushing it with one of those diffuser style brushes (the ones that look like plastic porcupines). Comb it all the way back and let the rest of it just air dry.

There is a trick to curly hair. You can't just let it dry with out putting anything in it. If you do it will tend to be more like a chia head. I am a stylist as you know and though I primarily use professional products, I like LA Looks spray gel. This has hold and works really well when you spray it on towel dried hair. Of course you can't go running your fingers through it because then you will poof it out again. Also what I suggest is that you don't comb or pick your hair when you get of the shower. If when you wash it in the shower and then condition it you run your fingers through your hair or pick it in the shower with the conditioner on it. When you rinse it out don't ruff it up, and when you dry it with a towel don't ruff it up. With the towel just wrap it around your head for a while so that it will absorb the water. Then when you are ready to do your hair take the towel off flip your hair up and shake your hair a little with your fingers. Then you can spray the gel in and scrunch a little then you get more of the spiral look or natural look then you would if you combed it or picked it first. Good luck..

Get this conditioner thing that has a blue bottle and says on the front "does your hair get poofy as it dries", and it has a picture of a woman with curly brown hair. You can get it at CVS. The name starts with "c". It actually works. If you do not want to do this, try clipping it back.

My hair is fine but there's lots of it.. it does that sorta stuff too.
I suggest a leave-in conditioner like Infusium (I've been thinking of getting that again). Sometimes I use Fx-straighten-out gel to tame things though it takes hair longer to dry.
Oh yeah,.. temporarily putting it in a twisted pony tail or putting on a hat and later taking it off can help tame it too.

i have the same type of hair.

i use the Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-Frizz serum after my hair is towel-dried, before straightening, and after straightening. if you straighten your hair, the serum acts as a heat-protectant so your hair won't become fried and even more poofy. it also makes your hair stay down. try it out :)

good luck x
