You are right - war is usually due to religious beliefs.

War never brings peace.

Peace through force? NO!

Peace through war? MAYBE.

People cannot force peace. So peace through force is totally out of the question.

As for peace through war.... Well, it's possible. Self-defense is often necessary, and it can result in peace. But, in my opinion, in has to be the last resort. If it isn't the final resort then it cannot bring peace since war would then be a choice. In other words, when people make a non-defensive choice to battle [a choice that doesn't include defending themselves or anyone else] fighting (rather than peace) is the choice. If people act in self-defense, they are merely responding in a necessary manner but are still choosing peace. If people desire to fight, for any reason other than defending themselves or others, then they are opposing peace.

No it is not, and never will be. The only way true peace can be achieved is through understanding and tolerance; religion, race, age, or whatever the issue may be. Killing anyone because they are different is wrong. Mankind may never be able to have everyone live together in harmony, but it is a goal worth trying for. To quote Abraham Lincolon, "Let us have faith that right makes might, and in that faith, let us, to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand it." Unfortunately, there will always be those out there who feel that they have the right to do whatever they want because they feel "whatever" gives them that power to control others. As long as those people or groups exist, we must be ready to defend our civil liberties and rights.

If peace thru force wasnt true peace, we wouldnt have such a thing called a police institution in our countries, or jails for that matter. Because you have to force criminals to obey the laws of the land so the majority would have peace.

I do however, know that the word youre looking for is 'oppression'.

Is peace through oppression true peace? NO!

If I have a drug crazed lunatic who is intent on causing harm to me and my family, and I subdue him and put him under locked restraint so he can't do any more harm, I and my family have peace.
I don't particularly care if he is at peace in his jail cell or not.

No, true peace is not forceful or violent. And no, I don't believe there are "winners" in war. No one wins in my opinion.

Afghanistan came to my mind. The US and UK helped Afghanistan fight off Russia and look what happened later. All religions are man made evil, in my mind.
