It's nothing in my religion per se, but something in my experience.

20 years or so ago I had an NDE (near-death experience) where I ended up in hell until I asked for God's help to get out. For no reason I can understand, God chose to be merciful. (I didn't deserve mercy, but it was given to me when I asked for it anyway.) Memories of that night help me to believe.

That it does not require belief, but calls for open-minded sensitivity and heart-felt practical experience that result in eminently valuable insight, deep wisdom, and profound joy.

(Such experience also lends respectful perspective for better appreciating the value at the foundational core of other healthy forms of human spiritual practices and traditions.)

I throw out all the ideas that are questionable, and what is left is secular humanism. Not sure if that's what you mean by a religion, though.
