What is a pope? A monk? A confessional? These are not Bible words--Romanism is an amalgamation of ancient, pagan, antichrist religions that hides its occult practices and deities behind Christian names. And the world calls her, "The Church"! What a Satanic coup! She calls herself, "Mother Church". She's a mother alright, but not of Christ's church. The Bible calls her THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH (Rev. 17:5)

What is a cloistered nun? The office of a "nun" is not even in the Bible. Want to know where the idea comes from? Research Roman mythological systems and look for groups like the "Vestal Virgins" and temple prostitutes. While you're at it, look up pagan Rome's "pontiff", "diocese", "vicar", incense burning, multiple gods (now called saints), goddess worship, and statues. Why do you think this Satanic masterpiece is called "ROMAN" Catholic? Ancient Rome lives on today! The Great Whore still rides the beast in all her monstrous glory!

Thank God there is someone else out there on the right track. and to the one who said you made a lot of assuptions about revelation needs to study it and do a lot of praying because brother as I see it you are right on. Also if you realize how much money the catholic church has hoarded away in their bank could pretty much cure hunger in africa they have millions loaded in the bank.

Someone needs to do some more reading of Roman history. The pope was also once considered to be a highly charged political role on par with leaders of military and government? Did you know that? Did you know that popes once declared warfare on other countries? Did you know there was once two popes? The Catholic Church is a very old religion that predates the majority of other Christian religions. It only makes sense that due to its age that it would be rife with all sorts of oddities. Now in terms of being satanic that's just ignorant. The Catholic Church is about as satanic as pagan religions or heavy metal music - in other words - none. Your argument is flawed and demonstrates a need to tear down an institution that has helped millions if not hundreds of millions for centuries. Like all institutions it is made up of humans - humans are flawed.

They've got good reasons to believe the way they do. I don't agree with all of it either, but I think it should all be up to God to judge them and what their individual motivations might be concerning the things they practice. I don't see anything at all wrong with becoming a nun though, I think that is beautiful... those women really love Jesus, so much that they want to sacrifice their whole lives in His service. What does a woman do who does not desire marriage? If she loves God so much, should she be excluded from such a devoted religious life that makes her so happy and fulfilled and instead subjected into a world where the love of God may be more lacking than what she can handle? Where they may not be as respected by men, and may even be in danger of men... especially if she has no family to care about her? (This was the case with myself)... you shouldn't be surprised that they love the saints. I myself love the saints... there are many Saints and many other saints that have not been recognized yet... maybe YOU are to be one! Speak what you believe humbly and pray for people you think are in error, but don't pass judgement. That's G-d's job. Also, you would probably get a spiritual boost out of studying the lives of the Saints yourself. Saint Francis or Saint Clair of Assisi and Saint Therese of Lisieux are a few of my favorites.

David, you are absolutely right, it might help if you linked to some sources though. Both Biblically and historically the Catholic Chruch is clearly marked as an abominaton for those who truly are seekers of righteousness. I seriously doubt that posting proofs does any good, people believe what they want in spite of what God says.

The truth about the origins of the practices of the Catholic Church and her Protestant daughters (Rev 17:5 as you quoted) can be found at:

Is the Catholic Church marked in the Bible as the false church, the Whore of Babylon mentioned in Revelations? Compare Revelations 17: 9 with the place where the Vatican is located:

Also, the Catholic Church at Rome was not the "only" church to survive the dark ages, it was simply the most politically powerful due to it's unholy union with the Roman Emperors.

I was going to answer the question until I read all the nasty little value judgements you've inserted in the text of your question. Go and read the Catholic Encyclopaedia. It's online and available to everyone.

You should also remember that the Anglican Church has vicars, bishops, believes in a Trinity, uses incense. I think you're getting a bit carried away with your fundamentalism. As usual, the Catholic Church carries all the schtick from fundamentalists but the other churches are let off the hook scot free. Are Methodists, Presbyterians, the Uniting Church and Anglicans that ritually and dogmatically pure? or is just that they aren't 'Roman' Catholic?

Yet another reason I am thankful for being an atheist when I read drivel like that.

I guess you already know the answers, and needed a forum where you can bash Catholics. The Roman Catholic Church has it's faults, but it is the only Christian Church to survive the Dark Ages. Without it , there would have been no church for the Reformation Period to develop more tolerant faith based teachings. Maybe the Antichrist or great whore that you speak of is Islam, and conservative Protestants have been mistakenly bashing Catholics.

You say 'These are not Bible words' ........... well who gave us the first Bible ?The Bible as a whole was not compiled until the late 4th century and then it was compiled by a Catholic saint (St. Jerome) at the request of a Catholic pope (St. Damasus I).
The Catholic Church was the first Christian denomination to commission a mass printing of the Bible by asking Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the printing press, to do so in 1447.
The Bible you are referring to is kjv, & this is a result of the Reformation, 1517AD
What is being parroted by you is the fanciful history of Loraine Boettner a leader in the anti-Catholic movement.

you are tragically misinformed.

Even though you are trying to enrage certain people, and I am not Roman Catholic (I'm Anglican Catholic), you still have some diamonds in there amongst the dirt. So, for those who read this, I will answer.

Pope is the Latin equivalent of papa or father, the title traditionally afforded to Bishops. The RCC Pope is the Bishop of Rome and the Eastern Orthodox Pope is the Patriarch of Alexandria.
A monk is a man who is a member of a brotherhood living in a monastery and devoted to a discipline prescribed by his order. It derives from the Late Greek monakhos, meaning single.
A nun is a woman who belongs to a religious order or congregation devoted to active service or meditation, living under vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. From the Late Latin nonna, feminine of nonnus, tutor.

Since none of these can be proscribed ONLY to the Roman church, I would challange your assertion that they are satanic. I understand that you have your opinion, but I think you are wrong.

Oh, yes...the confessional. A small enclosed stall in which a priest hears confessions. This is, in fact, Biblical. We are exhorted to "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed." (James 5:16, KJV), and that "Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained." (John 20:23, KJV), I would argue that this practice is hardly of satan.

As for the rest, Romans spoke Latin. It hardly surprises me that they used existing Latin terms to describe Christian concepts. Sorry, but your rant only indicates a lack of understanding on your part.

so, you learned from a "rabbi", you don't think he was trying to sway your beliefs at all? To "his" interpretation of what is "right". Rabbi's don't have agenda's, or the Jewish faith has no structure?

Yes the Catholic church has big flaws, just like any organization. So what? It never stopped the truth from finding me, because I guess my mind stayed opened and my soul still seeks truth. I do not think anyone can handle the "whole truth" at once. It may even say that in the bible, IDK.

What is a Protestant? It's not mentioned in the Bible. What is the Trinity, it's not mentioned in the Bible. What's the Southern Baptist Convention, it's not mentioned in the Bible.

You make alot of assumptions about Revelation. The Mother Of Harlots was Babylon the Great not Rome. Your ignorance of the Bible and Catholicism is mind numbing.

(I'm confused why a Jew would be concerned about what Revelation says - maybe worshipping the wall of the temple is something that Jehovah would appreciate?)

A basic study of how the early church was formed would be useful here. In a time where copies of the New Testament were not readily available - the few copies in existance needed to be shared, studied and understood by a relatively small number of people. thus the system of bishops, etc were formed.
